"Good Morning, this is the Today Programme. In 3 hours time, Mr Heath, Mr Wilson and Mr Thorpe will attend a meeting at Buckingham Palace at the behest of Her Majesty the Queen in order to discuss and attempt to resolve the deepening constitutional crisis.
With neither the Conservatives or Labour having enough seats to form a majority government the focus over the last few days has been the Liberal leader Mr Thorpe who's party has the balance of power but has not said publicly whether he will support any party.
This will be the first time since the days of Asquith and Lloyd George that a monarch has taken a direct role in the structure of the government..."
