1958 Crisis without De Gaulle

The main and only condition of Massu's occupation of Algiers was that de Gualle come back as president of France. If de Gualle was out of the picture, dead or what have you, who would Massu have wanted in charge if anyone? Would he take another, even more insane course of action and actually conduct an assault on Paris?

I can't imagine that the OAS would be able to take Paris. I assume that it would rip the bottom out of the colonialists since they've shown their true colors. Without De Gaulle, though, who could possibly step into the Void of Leadership that had been raging at the eye of the Fourth Republic?
