1954, Richard Sorge becomes Premier.

1956, Richard Sorge becomes Premier.

Premier of the Soviet-Union, of course, he is exchanged in 1944, as Stalin decides he will be most needed in the next war too.

Stalin names "Ramsay" as his successor for the first time as early as the summer 1948, after Stalin, krushnev orders Sorge executed when he tries to take power, not really know who Sorge is.

Krushev is arrested, put on public trial for the murder of comrad Stalin and the potatoe is executed in early 1954, while Sorge himself becomes Premier 2½ years later.

What happen? How does the cold war go from there?

A German going from a mid-ranking NKVD spook to SecGen in less than a decade is a hell of a lot more than just a "bit" ASB.

He was born in the settlement of Sabunchi, suburb of Baku, Azerbaijan. He was pretty good, I mean, he only pretended to be German and today, there are still people who are still fooled! :D

Especially when the OTL Stalin refused to believe much of the intelligence Sorge produced in Japan.

Outre and bizarre PODs are the OP's specialty however.

Did not know that, but he was German for all effects for the Politburo. And a spy. Probably old Iosef toasted with Vodka when he was captured and executed ... the fact that ignored everything he was told is a good signal...
