Arabs accept UN partition plan for Palestine, 1948. Independent states of Israel and Palestine established then, Jerusalem split as capitals. No war. Consequences?
OK presume a fair refugee settlement - Arab refugees from partition Israel given homes of Jews evicted from Arab countries. Count would be about right as without the War of Independence many fewer Arabs are evicted.
1. Early Isreal is even more of a security and economic basket case than in OTL. Too small and too little agricultural land. Way too dependent on US Jewish charity.
2. Means even more emmigration to US so a smaller Israel.
3. Means an Israel that never bcomes a mini-great power militarilly. Can still have supersoldiers but just too small to make tanks, airplanes, missles.
4. Means probably a selfprotective Holy Land League of Jordan, Palestine, Israel, and Lebanon as the fourth regional power alongside Egypt, syria and Iraq.
5. Said League is probable US ally. Is economically viable as a unit.
6. Means that US is not the target of Arab nationalism and Islamic fundimentalism as backing Israel doesn't matter much.
7. Means the probable MidEast split is Turkey plus Holy Land League plus Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) v Egypt, Syria, Iraq.
