Currently I am working on a project about Prohibition, and I am just up to the portion of the 1924 Democratic Convention. There was a resolution to condemn the Klan after their actions in Williamson County where 20 people were killed, but it failed by 1 vote, out of a total of 1,085 total votes cast. What if 1 more delegate had voted to condemn the Klan?
Now heres my idea: the Klan condemnation resolution passes, the pro-klan delegates walk out of the convention in protest. They join together and form some sort of Prohibition/Klann political party(i'll call it the purity party)
Now here's my question- how would 1924 be electorially with Coolidge, LaFollette, Smith, and a Klan/prohibition party all running candidates?
I am thinking Coolidge still wins, but might the election be thrown to the house of representatives.
Can someone point me to an electoral map showing the aforementioned details, or can someone make a map that accurately portrays those
circumstances?
Wishing you well, his majesty,
