1867: French Luxembourg and South Rhineland

What if the Luxembourg Crisis had elevated to war in 1867 and the French won, buying Luxembourg and seizing the Saar and Rhineland south of the Moselle (including Palatinate)? Maybe Kehl too.

I'm assuming the South German states would join Prussia here.

Bavaria might be very grump with Prussia if Prussia dragged them into a war that led to a loss of Palatinate.

South German States don't join a defeated Prussia. They may integrate on their own--a South German Union of Baden-Wurttemberg-Bavaria---non-aligned but friendly toward France and Austria. The system of alliances doesn't come about and diplomacy is more fluid.

I'm interested in more detail on how France wins the war at this time. I think the likelier outcome (but not the inevitable outcome) is Prussia allying with South German states to stand up to France and winning.
