Probably because he was Catholic? Which, if he had married the Prussian princess he'd probably have been fine in that regard. Better yet, let him marry Louise of Britain and her come with the Ionian Islands as a dowry, and it might work (Louise's niece was considered for Amadeo's nephew, so it's not TOO out there, I guess. Well, besides the fact that you've gotta convince Queen Victoria it's a good idea).
 
I think youve had one of those wonderful moments where your brain is thinking of two different words and ends up combining them.
That or there is a tradition of throwing greek monarchs that I am unaware of XD
 
I think the possibility is interesting, personally. The effects on relations with Italy might be interesting as well.
