1738: A Tragedy at Peterhof

In 1738 both Anna Leopoldovna (not married to Anton Ulrich of Brunswick yet) and Elisabeth Petrovna visited the entertainment at the court of their respective aunt and cousin Anna Ioannovna.
The princesses stood near window and watched the fireworks. Suddenly one of the rockets changed the course and hit the window. In OTL all the damage done was fainting and a few glass cuts. But in ATL, where the hit was lethal, all the Romanovs left are aging Anna Ioannovna and her first cousin once removed Karl Peter Ulrich of Holstein AKA Peter III (11 years old).
So...what happens? Will Biron become successful regent TTL or not?

Biron hated in Russia, as his blamed for all the mistakes of the government. Guardsmen his would not support.

Hmm, a very interesting and delicate scenario. Well for one its obvious that Peter III will be Emperor, but I'm not sure about Biron as Regent. he kinda screwed the pooch by pissing off near everyone during Anna's reign. Does Peter III have any close male relatives alive at this point? If so then I imagine they would make a try at the regency. If not, I guess Biron could survive as the best of a bad situation.

His father is dying precisely around those years (in OTL died in early 1739). So no German regent it seems (German regent from Germany and not German regent residing in Russia as both Biron and Minich will try to make their bids for regency).
When that scenario was discussed on Russian forums, there was also the idea that Anna Ioannovna might... marry the fiancé of her niece, Anton Ulrich, and make him a Tsar upon her death. As she was the only Romanov-Miloslavsky remaining and was Empress Regnant, she had a greater choice in this matter than in scenario of Catherine the Great (who was initially Empress Consort until usurping the power) remarrying. With the only Romanov heir being from another line, she might weight both variants.

Its an interesting idea, but would that even work? I mean Catherine got the throne because she was popular among the nobles and guards, and her husband was not. So would Anton be succeeding his wife as Emperor or merely acting as Regent for Peter III as Dowager Tsar(?) ?

So if Peter doesn't become tantamount to a Prussian fanboy, could he last longer and maybe not make a complete fool of himself to his people?

If he's brought to Russia early enough then maybe. Though the thing was that early can be only as early as his dad dies. Duke of Holstein was hated by nearly every ranked noble in St. Petersburg. Starting from Empress herself. I don't know whether Peter started showing signs of Prussian fanboyism as early as 13.
But I do know he'll be getting different wife TTL. Catherine was chosen only because Elisabeth had nearly became her aunt by marriage back in 1727 and still remembered this early betrothal.
