Dope I do wonder if they'd have Anne as regent, or a broader regency council

I would agree that a 1714 coup would be much easier than anything with 1715. Mar was appointed Commander-in-Chief because he was the first to start the rising (prematurely I might add), which appealed to James III. Plus the Jacobites lacked many of their better commanders; Louis XIV refused to let the Jacobites (including Berwick, James's half brother and one of that Generation's best generals) serve in the rising. I did a thread quite a few years ago on that subject, here's the link (https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/princess-over-the-water.266798/). But I wouldn't say that the House of Stuart Sequence was all that good. The author had Charles Edward marrying Clementina Walkinshaw, which really says how little research was done. I mean the Prince was more or less engaged to Madame Royale (Henriette de France) and there were enough Protestant Princesses (or even members of the Aristocracy) that were much more suitable to be the next Queen of Great Britain & Ireland.
There's also another never talked about idea; James III succeeds William III. OTL William twice made the offer to adopt the Prince of Wales as his successor, in exchange for unmolested control during his lifetime. The second offer even dropped the demand of a conversion to/ raised in Anglicanism. But James and Mary Beatrice snubbed there noses at it and it ultimately went nowhere. I did a thread on it a few years back but it devolved into arguments over whether or not the offer was real or made up.
