13 Doctors 13 Stories

OK, what's this then?

It's a DW ATL

What's the difference between this one and all the others?

Well it's based on DAV's current wrestling thread 30 Years 30 Matches

What the Doc as a wrestler?

No you twonk, Its about how certain stories in an alternative DW TL gave the show a different direction

Hmm, its different...fire away

NB. The last DW thread I did about the show reimagined as a Gerry Anderson production got a lot of slagging off. I would appreciate it if comments were kept polite and constructive

I've enjoyed your other works, so I'd be very interested to see where you go with this.
Thanks
Are we going to have Gerry Anderson producing a string puppet version of Dr Who?
No, this will be Ordinary DW.

First Doctor, played by Jerry Desmonde

Ian: William Franklyn

Barbara: Rosalyn Knight

Susan: Honor Blackman

Invasion, broadcast 21/11 to 26/12 1964

The TARDIS fleeing from a near fatal attack by the Cybermen (Planet of Steel) land in what they think is London 1964. Initial joy is replaced by dismay when the crew reveal it is 2164

Attempting to return to the TARDIS the crew is attacked by an unknown force comprising of what looks like augmented humans. The Doctor and Ian are captured while Barbara and Susan are rescued again by unknown forces.

Regaining consciousness the Doctor and Ian are horrified to see that the Daleks have taken over the planet and are converting humans into robomen.

Meanwhile Barbara and Susan have been rescued by human rebels. Initially sceptical of their claim to be time travellers (one rebel suggests operating on Susan to find out what she really is)
They eventually persuade the rebels that they are human and ask for help to rescue the Doctor and Ian.

The Daleks claim that they developed time travel with assistance from someone. When the Doctor asks who they are attacked.

The rebels are initially reluctant to help Barbara and Susan, saying to attack the Daleks would be suicide. However an engineer called David Campbell and others agree to help.

The Doctor is worried. Who was the Dalek's assistant. Who could they have met that helped them travel through time. Where are Barbara and Susan?

The rebels plan a rescue of the Doctor and Ian. David and Barbara seem to be growing closer all the time.

The Doctor and Ian are told that the Daleks are trying to drill a hole through to the Earth's core to implant giant engines and move the planet out of the solar system. They have encountered a problem with their laser drill. They want the Doctor to use his TARDIS to plant a "dalekanieum bomb at the earth's core to clear the path for the drill. The Doctor refuses. The Daleks threaten Ian and the Doctor reluctantly agrees. Using a psychic link the Doctor summons the TARDIS

The rebels approach the base where the Doctor and Ian are being held captive. Using a modified roboman David is able to gain access to the base and lead the rebels in.

The dalekanieum bomb is placed inside the TARDIS. The Doctor pretending to help engages a self destruct sequence. At that moment the rebels attack. Together the Doctor, Ian and David are able to push the bomb out of the TARDIS which then dematerialises. The bomb explodes causing massive casualties.

Rematerialising at the rebels hideout, The TARDIS crew and the rebels discuss what happens now. With the Daleks defeated and the Earth in ruins the humans send a message via the TARDIS to all rebel units asking for help.

During a celebratory party the Doctor is still worried about who could have aided the Daleks. He also notices Barbara and David are in love and that Ian is happier now that he has been since their travels started.

Returning to the TARDIS with Susan the Doctor locks the doors and tells a stunned Ian and Barbara that they would be better off on Earth then continuing travelling with him.

As the TARDIS dematerialise the Doctor and Susan have a row.

"Why did you leave them there"
"For their own good Susan, and our own good. Believe me they are safe there"
"From who, the Daleks, the Cybermen, who grandfather, who will they be safe from?
"Me, Susan, Me"

Full Fathom Five
2nd Doctor: Patrick Macnee
Flavia: Julie Christie

Broadcast 3/2 to 9/3 1968

While searching for Morbius the TARDIS picks up a strange signal. Landing on present day Earth the Doctor discovers the signal is coming from the Thames. They see hundreds of dead fish.

Tracking the signal the crew are astounded to find out that the signal is coming from a nearby pumping station. As they approach the station they are suddenly accosted by armed guards.

Taken to a nearby camp the Doctor is astounded to see Colonel Lethbridge Stewart. L-S doesn't recognize the Doctor from their previous encounter (Doomsday)

Initially the Doctor has a lot of trouble explain to LS why they are there. But when the Doctor mentions the fish the Colonel reacts.

L-S says that there have been reports of strange sonic signals emanating from deep within the Thames. Flavia say that they picked up the signal in the TARDIS.

L-S says that all attempts to probe the depth have resulted in nothing but crushed metal. They're just about to try again...this time with a manned probe.

The Doctor advises against it but is told that this is an order from the Ministry. As he walks away. The Doctor turns to Flavia and fulminates against human pomposity.

Following L-S to to another room the Doctor and Flavia see via video link that a manned probe is ready to be lowered into the river.

As they watch the probe's coverage the Doctor asks the Colonel how much damage was done following the Dalek/Cybermen battle. L-S states that 723 people were killed and millions of pounds of damage was done.

L-S also informs the Doctor that he will be soon be promoted to Brigadier and placed in charge of a new team called UNIT designed specifically as a result of the Doctor's last visit.

The Doctor's pain is etched on his face and he promises himself once again to find Morbius and bring him to justice.

They are interrupted by a message from the probe. They've found some kind of structure. Then a blood-curdling scream fills the room. L-S orders the probe back.

They rush to to the recovery probe and find the pilot is dead.

A post-mortem reveals that the pilot died from some kind of sonic compression. The Doctor is puzzled. No species on Earth has that kind of ability.

The Doctor asks L-S what happened to lead to the signal. L-S says that about 8 months ago as part of the reconstruction plans were made to create a sub-aquatic taxi service and that the Thames was expanded to make way for the route.

The Doctor and Flavia discuss what to do. He wants to go down himself using equipment from the TARDIS. Flavia reminds him that their mission is to find Morbius. They row.

That night Flavia is finishing her report to Gallifrey when the roundels in her room turn red. The Doctor had locked her in!

The Doctor has created a special scanner and has gone down in another probe. L-S and his colleagues are alerted to the unsanctioned act and are in the control room.

Flavia manages to override the lock and races into the control room to tell L-S what the Doctor has done.

The Doctor approaches the structure which responds with a blast of energy. The Doctor is knocked out.

L-S and Flavia try unsuccessfully to contact the Doctor. L-S says he has to inform the ministry.

The Doctor wakes up in a chamber surrounded by a race of creature he has never seen before. He is informed that they are the Hydrax. A race of aquatic beings who colonised the Earth millennia ago. They placed themselves in suspended animation due to the effects of the planet being hit by asteroids.

The Doctor realises that they were awoken by the digging of the Thames. He asks what they want. They reply that they wish to re-colonise the planet...by destroying the humans.

L-S reappears in the Control room and says he has been told by the ministry to destroy the structure. Flavia pleads with him not to do it. She says she has an idea

The Doctor tries to explain that killing people is not the right way to acquire peace. The Hydrax are unconvinced saying that they have scanned the area and are appalled by the damage done by the humans.

The Hydrax plan to send a huge sonic bomb through the Thames, out across the UK's river system and beyond and literally flood the planet.

Back on the surface Flavia, L-S and a small team are in the TARDIS preparing a rescue operation. L-S has told the ministry that are technical issues. Flavia wonders about the propensity of the humans to lie.

The Hydrax are preparing the bomb and the Doctor is still pleading with them to stop but they are not listening. The TARDIS materialises in the chamber and a small battle takes place. One of the team aims a gun at the bomb. The Doctor tells him not to fire.

The Doctor and L-S say that the awakening of the Hydrax was a mistake. They say that if the Hydrax return to sleep then the humans will abandon the creation of the route. The Hydrax agree.

The Doctor and Flavia re-engage the sleep systems and the Hydrax return to their stasis.

Back on the surface L-S tells the Doctor that the UN have ordered a permanent exclusion zone around the structure. He also tells the Doctor that he has spoken to the UN and they understand that it wasn't his fault that the Dalex/Cybermen battle caused so much damage.

The Doctor and Flavia leave in the TARDIS

Thoughts so far?
I like it. You casting gives new meaning to "Schhh... You Know Who"...
Desmonde is an interesting choice. I don't believe he was ever considered for the role.
Honor Blackman's casting suggests a different interpretation of Susan, back to 'Lady Larn' concept with telepathic communication and martial arts perhaps?

Lunarstrike
3rd Doctor: Jeremy Child
Brigadier L-S: Nicholas Courtney
Captain Michaela "Mike" Yates: Caroline John
Sergeant Benton: John Levine
30/1 to 20/2 1971

On the United Europe Space Station Copernicus scientific investigations are going on into sustainable agriculture. A research team is exploring the dark side of the moon for potential sites when the lunarbike is destroyed.

On Earth the Doctor is still trying to repair the TARDIS following the damage sustained on Gallifrey (The Final Game) when Mike informs him about the incident on the Moon. The doctor at first is uninterested remarking about the humans' propensity for bespoiling other worlds.

Mike states that the bike was destroyed by an anti-matter device. This pricks the Doctor's interest.

Going into L-S's office they're told that UNIT have been ordered to investigate what happened. The Doctor asks why they were looking on the dark side of the moon as there's no sun there. L-S says that they were looking to test a new seeding system that has no requirement to sunlight

The Doctor, L-S, Mike and Benton walk down to a secure room which turns out to be an experimental transmit room. The Doctor realises that they must have acquired the technology from the Cyberman following the Battle of London (Doomsday).

Transmatting to the moon the team are met by a delegation led by Commissioner Hemmings (Geoffrey Palmer) who is reluctant to have Earth involvement. L-S makes it clear that UNIT have jurisdiction over security matters.

Examining the video footage the Doctor is puzzled by the use of anti-matter. Such technology needs huge resources and the moon is too small for that.

He and Mike take a second lunar bike to the area despite Hemmings protests. As they do so they are stunned by two energy blasts.

They awake to find themselves in a chamber surrounded by a group calling themselves "The Sons Of Lunar". Led by a man called Fisher (William Simons) they are a separatist group who are sick of Earth's interference and seeks independence. They killed the research team because they were too close to finding their base.

Back at the Station L-S and Benton are arguing over going to find the Doctor and Mike. Hemmings is saying the temperature is dropping and they are probably dead.

The Sons tell the Doctor and Mike that it is their plan to take control of the station and use their defensive shield generator to fire a huge anti matter blast at Earth unless their demands are met and just to make sure they are going to take the Doctor and Mike as hostages.

The Doctor contacts the station and tells L-S that they are fine and not to worry, The doctor also says "Don't forget to tell the marines".

L-S realises something is wrong and contacts Earth.

The Sons as well the Doctor and Mike approach the station. Fisher makes his demands clear. If they are not given access to the control centre they will kill the Doctor and Mike.

The doors to the centre open and the group enter. Fisher opens a communication link and issues his demands. A response says they need to transmat a team to help. Fisher agrees but warns no tricks.

A team transmats carrying cases. One of the team approaches a panel. It turns out to be L-S and a UNIT team. They overwhelm most of the Sons except Fisher who grabs Mike and threatens to kill her. As he tries to turn off the life support system as a way of getting his demands met he is momentarily distracted and is shot by Benton.

As the group are taken into custody Hemmings apologises to the Doctor and UNIT, he says he is a proud man didn't want Earth sticking their noses in. The Doctor explains that while pride is a noble thing its equally noble to admit that sometimes pride isn't enough.

The Doctor and UNIT transmat back to Earth.
