Hi everybody ,

My name is Panagiotis Mouratidis and i 'm from Athens,Greece.

The photo you can see here belongs to my great grandfather Anton Mouratov(АНТОН МУРАТОВ).It was taken in 1917.After some research i made on the internet i have reached some interesting conclusions. On his shoulder board there is an insignia with a number and a rank. Some Russians internet friends recognize it.My great grandfather Anton Mouratov was a Sergeant Major (Feldfebel-фельдфе́бель) in the 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment(114-й запасной пехотный полк).
This discovery fits the inscription on the back side of the photo. In the handwriting of my great grandfather,is a memorial from Caucasus in January 15,1917 from "Caucasian Acting Army".During the WW1 The 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment was stationed in Kars,Caucasus (Карс,modern Turkey, then Russian Empire) according to:

http://www.grwar.ru/library/Zvegintsov/RA_09.html

Documents of the regiment are in the fond 7838 of the RGVIA:

http://guides.rusarchives.ru/browse/guideb...&sid=229289

I have mailed twice the Russian State Military History Archive (RGVIA) asking for a copy of the fond 7838 concerning the history of the 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment during the WW1.Or more specifically, a copy of his personal military record(if there is).Till now i haven't got an answer.I was told i have to wait a bit more.

There is a confusion about 114th regiment. There where two regiments with the same number. The first one was the 114th Infantry Regiment (114-й пех.Новоторжский полк). It belongs to 29th Infantry Division of 20th Army Corps. It was regiment of the 1-st line, has placement in Mitava and after mobilisation was declared it come to front and took part in actions.
The second was the 114-th Reserve Infantry Regiment (114-й запасной пех. полк), which has placed in Kars,Caucasus and his role was to prepare reinforsment for field army. That was the regiment my great grandfather serviced.

I know its very difficult to find my great grandfather's personal service document. That's probably in RGVIA and RGVIA is a difficult department. But i 'm equally interested to learn things about the 114th Infantry Regiment. To learn where my great grandfather had stepped during WW1.
If you have any information about Russian Regiments stationed in Caucasus during WW1(especially the 114-th Reserve Infantry Regiment-114-й запасной пех. полк)please let me know.I 'm interested in everything, stories, documents, bibliography.
Please, any idea or suggestion from you would be highly appreciated.
If you need any other information from me,please let me know.

Thank you very much in advance,
Panagiotis Mouratidis.
