Map Thread XII

I've seen some WIPs posted here before, so I figured I would post mine here as well while I wait on the approval of the author to post a fan map of a TL I made. Anyway, I had to resize the map by half to get it down to manageable levels, so hopefully it looks alright. Very much a WIP, though getting close to being done with natural stuff since I probably won't do rivers on this one like the lazy p.o.s. I am. :p

Do you have the basemap for this that you traced off of? I have been trying to find a good North America map but none of them were full or had a decent amount of detail.

I see Finland and Denmark are both communist; what are Sweden and Norway like? I'd imagine a fairly powerful siege mentality is in place there.

Norway was liberated from the Nazi's by Britain and avoided Soviet "liberation" and is very tied to Britain in foreign policy. Norway and Sweden have taken in a large number of refugees fleeing Communist German, Denmark, and Finland and have taken a more conservative turn because of it. Norway maintains a large standing military and regularly practices war games with Great Britain to continue to show the Soviets they they won't simply role over. Sweden has been Finlandized, mostly because they don't feel that if push came to shove the West could save them from the Communists, which in no small part can be blamed on Clement Attlee's seeming abandonment of Europe to the Communists.

An alternate The Falcon Cannot Hear?

Yah, Long dies in a plane crash and the Whites mostly fall into line under Mac. The 1938 hurricane delivers a fatal blow to the Reds in New York and the Whites capture the remainder of the East Coast. Germany's Blitzkrieg goes as per-otl instead of getting bogged down and France falls. The American Civil War ends in 1940 and the US becomes an authoritarian military dictatorship. The Germans launch Barbarossa and the Soviets are forced to make peace with the Japanese. The Soviets conquer Europe all the way to the Pyrenees. Clement Attlee basically sits back as the "free" elections in Europe lead to the creation of Soviet puppet states.

It’s 1964 and a strange sort of silence has overtaken the United States of America. For 24 years, General Douglas MacArthur had ruled over the nation after having led the Whites to victory in the Second American Civil War. Across the nation while there are people who mourn the passing of the man who fought off communism and there are those who celebrate the death of America’s Caesar, most watch silently waiting for what comes next. Some whisper of who will take the General’s place, others of a new civil, and still others speak ever so softly of the possibility of a return to democracy. In Tokyo and London, ministers and politicians all brace themselves for whatever comes next, hoping that their chief ally against the Soviet Juggernaut remains as steadfastly anti-communist as it was under General MacArthur. In the Kremlin, the Soviets don’t know what to hope for out of fear that any potential Communist takeover of the USA would be led by those more in line with Paris or Beijing. Yes the question of everyone’s mind is “What happens next?”

I like it. Can you do one for like 1984, or 2014?

I would adore it. And couldn't Italy have spun off their help with the alliance by keeping the southern portion of their half of Tyrol? Is Silesia dual occupied because of it factories and mines? Are the Slovaks treated generously enough in their reunified country? And most importantly, have any communities of Germans acted decently enough in supporting non-Germans to be given favorable status or the ability to foresake Germandom? What of those people who took up German citizenship at the point of a gun. Oh, and a suggestion for Poland's populatoin problem... German children.

Apologies for not spotting this sooner and thank you - I have posted the first three maps on the Map Series Thread already and just finishing off the next three.

Italy will certainly attempt to establish claims to the Tyrol in the Treaty of Prague however they were somewhat tarnished with the legacy of Mussolini and the German allied Italian National Socialist State (ISNS), what will result is a condominium under the oversight of the Anglo-Soviet multinational body called the International Commune (think a partisan UN) and eventual plebiscite.

Silesia is dual occupied because it is within the territory that the Soviets and British agreed Canaris and Braun's Prussian exile SPD/KPD coalition government could "administer" but effectively yes the industrial capacity is being shared to produce reparations. Czechoslovakia having ITTL collapsed not solely through German invasion but rather a ethnic civil war is establishing a canton system based upon the Swiss model but maintaining a democratic parliament. There is considerable resentment towards the Slovaks and initially their treatment is somewhat worse.

The Carpathian Germans who were forcibly moved by the Slovakian government with the encouragement of Hitler to settle the "Lemko Generality" resisted German annexation and established a Free State prior to Soviet troops arriving. It wasn't allowed to exist but did establish a more favourable viewpoint. Germans who can prove continued loyalty to the SPD (for the British) or KPD (for the Soviets) are treated better and might be allowed to remain.

I was relatively bored so I developed some maps from my TL in development, 'Grâce aux rapporteurs', although the name has been discarded and I'm now looking from a new one. In any case, this is Europe 21 years after the PoD, not much has changed, although the Community is wealthier than OTL and Greece has remained more stable. The GDP per capita for East Germany is made up, sadly, because I couldn't find any data for the OTL year 1973 or even 1972, so I found a 1989 data and extrapolated that, so it may be very wrong.

Nicely done.

I am slightly puzzled by that atom symbol. Presumably it does not mean Italy and West Germany have their own atom bombs.

Drabble map from a TL where North Korea won the Korean war (the fact that in this TL the south attacked first kinda scuppered US efforts to drum up support for intervention) and where the Soviet-Chinese atomic war in the 70s, by depopulating much of North China, opened up further opportunities for expansion.

Too big? Also; what's happening in Tennessee?

Honestly, I'm not sure. It's no bigger than any other Worlda map I have, and I even tried uploading another Worlda, and it accepted it.

Basically the ACW ended in a bit of a draw and as a result, Tennessee was made into a buffer state as part of the war settlement. In the 1890's, the CSA's economy pretty much went to shit, and they lost a lot of states to the US (which is now under the control of *Fascists), and Tennessee is now suffering from a strong unification movement in the northern counties.
