Very nice, Rubberduck3y6. I like those badges...

Ran across this somewhat ASB TL while looking for something else:

https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=294747&highlight=jupiter

And it inspired me to do a map.

It's been nearly 20 centuries since Jesus won the all-Nazareth Junior Woodworkers Award for his folding spice rack (the Roman boy who won - unfairly - OTL was home with the leprosy) and went on to a successful career as a carpenter. Systematized Paganism, sometimes with a semi-omnipotent supreme god and a load of lesser deities, other places more diffuse, along with Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. are the dominant faiths. Judaism is still around, but it has become so Kabbalistically complex and full of demons and demiurges that it's hardly distinguishable from Polytheism. There have still been some religious conflicts, most notably the evolution of the Norse religion into an aggressively missionary and intolerant faith, leading to Wars of Religion between "nordic" and "roman-syncretist" states and within states where Nordic converts had greatly multiplied. The Americas here were discovered by China, and Africa modernized (mostly: it's latin america-ish or at worst central-america-ish) while largely avoiding colonization. The republic of Nova Roma, founded by the Eastern Roman Empire [1] (which started out as an Egyptian-north African one before retaking Constantinople) by way of NW Africa is currently the world's greatest power (due to a lengthy period of Chinese isolationism and return to traditional merchant-hatred): unfortunately, in spite of the lack of an Israel or any real religious dispute with the Arab astronomical-object worshippers, the lure of oil has brought it to a Middle Eastern quagmire.

[1] Was even bigger than the first empire for a while, square-mileage wise, holding all of north Africa, most of Arabia, the middle east out to central Iran, the Balkans north to the borders of Lusatia and Veletia, almost all of Italy...but it didn't last.

And here is the map.

As my original idea was a New England soccer league which Xibalba gazumped me to, I said I'd do a New Scotland one. Well Nova Scotia is a bit small on its own so I expanded it into the Maritimes Union - Gaspé, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.

Can you do some Philippines and Maryland maps based on this one?

Well, there go all my plans for entering that contest. But seriously, awesome. Would you be willing to help me design football club logos for my league? I've got colours picked for them already at least.

"Japan Northeastern Air Co., Ltd. (日本東北空輸株式会社, Nihon Touhoku Kuuyu Kabushiki-gaisha, TYO: 9203), abbreviated as JNE or Touhokuuyu, is a major Japanese airline headquartered in Ohta-ku, Tokyo, near the Haneda Airport. It operates hubs at Tokyo's Haneda and Narita airports, Sapporo's Shin Chitose airport, and Kawakado's Touhoubon airport, as well as focus cities at Kobe Airport, Sendai Airport, and Tenene Airport. Together with wholly-owned subsidiary Japan Northeastern Express, the airline operates a fleet of 121 passenger aircraft built by Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Saab to 82 destinations in Japan and ten foreign countries and territories, and is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. It is the dominant airline in Japan's northern regions of Daihokudo, Hokkaido, and Touhoku and is the leading airline for traffic from Japan and North America to western China and the Russian far east, predominantly serving the oil, gas, and mining industries."

Astute viewers may recognize certain town names here. When drawing the logo, I tried to stylize and merge the kanji 東北 ("touhoku", "northeast") and settled on rendering 東 as a crane in flight (alluding, again, to northern Japan, in particular to the Red-crowned Crane, a symbol of Hokkaido prefecture) and 北 as curling gusts of wind over the crane's wings.

Here is a little project I have been concocting for the past few days, that I have codenamed "Dark Age" do to the "Dark Ages" being where the PoDs are.

The mains ideas are that the Franks don't reach the heights they had OTL, an organized religion rises on the Eurasian steppe, and colonialism is generally less successful. The map takes place around 1880.

In the Americas, the Confederation of Brazil overthrew the Burgundian and few decades ago, but Francia and the Marken Hakanate still hold vast dominions on the continent. The P'urhépecha of Mesoamerica have carved out a large empire over the centuries, and have kicked Europeans out of Central America for the most part.

The South was less successful, with many colonies still existing here, except in Argentina and the Andes, where the the natives were only partially conquered by conquistadors from Al-Andalus. With the support of the P'urhépecha they drove their overlords out around the same time as the Confederation of Brazil.

Europe has come to a stalemate for the past century, excluding a brief turmoil caused by a revolution in Suebia. The major powers are Burgundy, the Ruman Empire (An Islamic state that is both Arab and Greek), Caratania-Veletia, and the Markan Hakanate, the latter three have been in a cold war for the past two hundred years, with none of them gaining the upper hand for long.

Africa has been divided, but multiple states have kept their independence. The *Ghana Empire, which pulled gained a lot from trade with Al-Maghrib to the North, was reformed under federal system derived from that of Brazil. To the East, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Rift Valley Kingdoms and the East African Coast Cities have held out against colonialism, with the rest of the continent being broken into European Spheres of Influence.

Asia is a microcosm of the world in general. The Markan Hakanate has conquered North Asia, spreading it's control all the way to *Beijing (Where a *Tengri Mongol Emperor rules) and almost to India. A power Iran has also taken a liking to the Subcontinent, with the Empire of Odisha as bulwark against the Imperial powers. The Khmer Empire has struggled through the centuries, and has been split between Francia and *Southern China, which has gained it's own colonial empire. Indonesia has been split between Batalyaws, Iran, and Francia (again), and the Pacific is a Cornicopia of cultures. In Australia, the exiled Suebian revolutionaries have set up a republic, and have gained the support of the natives to kick out the colonies of Batalyaws and Burgundy.

North America

A duel crisis for the decade! The United States is rightfully angry at the CSA openly backing rebels in "occupied" states (America won them fair and square in the last war, ironic considering that America ended up losing the war). Given that France is the Confederacy's prime backer she's flexing her might. The second being California wanting to rejoin the Union, Mexico is thoroughly opposed (but behind the scenes France blames Mexico for letting the whole thing come to a head). Canada is screaming blue murder about an angry, re-armed America but the Commonwealth is too big with too much diversity to really get anything done.

South America:

Hapsburg Brazil is playing policeman and making sure nobody does anything stupid like try funny business with the Yankees, but she's a little preoccupied trying to maintain a semi-productive empire in Africa. France kind of runs Latin America, so it's a lot more prosperous and suffered less calamity than OTL (except Bolivia, which was extinguished in "the big war")

Europe:

Britain bound Northern Europe together in the North Atlantic Pact to combat French influence, and keep the Russians at bay (France isn't exactly threatening anybody, but just to be on the safe side). People have been predicting the end of the Austrians since the Crimean War, but she lurches from crisis to crisis time and again (Austrian politics are so Byzantine that native Austrians don't understand how it operates). Southern Europe got strongarmed by France into an economic entity, and now nobody can leave without total collapse.

Paris and London vie for "centre of the world" status (New York was a contender until it was engulfed in nuclear fire ending the last war). Britain's decline was much more graceful than OTL (she also never got as large which helped) and managed to build the Commonwealth into a semi-functioning political and military alliance (the economic bit never panned out, even with free trade). Britannia still rules a good chunk of the world indirectly. Paris still likes to play world policeman (Mexico and Brazil are viewed as thugs for the French regime), and she's done a fairly passable job until the whole thing in America boiled over.

Russia got licked in a few wars but is probably better off because of it. The socialists managed to boot the Czar and make a highly efficient, idyllic communist society (with a few purges, coups, and counter coups along the way). There were even a few foreign revolutions in the 70s that caught Russia by surprise when they looked to Moscow for aid. Communism is a "thing" now that Russia has actually started assuring the world that yes, the bear is done hibernating, and no, the commies aren't out to destroy you.

Asia:

Central Asia is a wild west of Islamic Princes and theocrats, socialist revolutionaries (not generally Moscow approved), Asian business interests, western business interests as well as a lot of spies, gunplay and briefcases full of money.

Japan never took the hard turn to the right as it did in OTL, though it did scrap with China a few times. Definitely the most powerful state in Asia (even sans Korea which it grudgingly let go in the 80s). China is the big up and comer at the moment, and is driving a huge economic boom across Asia and almost seems to be the tail wagging the dog of the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. China does want the treaty ports back from Britain, but Britain doesn't really want them to leave, they're perfectly happy playing middleman to all of Chinese trade and the Japanese absolutely don't want China any stronger than absolutely necessary.

Africa:

Egypt is kind of hemmed in by France and her allies, but that's not really the issue considering that Egypt's problems are virtually all domestic. France is VERY involved in African politics and considers the place her private backyard, Britain has a few corners but anything important usually gets mentioned to Paris first so as to avoid any ruffled feathers.

Middle East:

So many disparate states, so much oil for them to argue about. Egypt and Britain have a gentleman's agreement about the Middle East that basically states that they agree not to screw around in the other's back yard. But you've got places like Persia and Mesopotamia that don't exactly follow the rules. Palestine is British (though she'd dump it in a heartbeat if she thought Egypt would want it) and it's full of Muslims, Jews and Christians who are so busy plotting against one another that the country actually functions on semi-regular basis (not as bad as OTL, but these guys don't know that).

I biffed the Pacific islands, don't look too much into it.
