Flag Challenge 80

FLAG CHALLENGE 80

f0yavb.png

By some stroke of fate the area known to us as Doggerland (green on the map) remained above sea level.

Design a flag for a nation which formed or included part or all of this area as at 1st January 1901.

Closing time for entries = 6th November, 12 midnight GMT
Voting to end at 13th November, 12 midnight GMT.

[Hope I've done this correctly!]

I think you have. :) Good job. But the challenge should have a name as well. How about "Nation of a surviving Doggerland" ?

Scandinavian flag set

This challenge is to make a set of flags for some Scandinavian countries, see the map below.

Make flags for the following six countries:
- Democratic Republic of Jutland
- Kingdom of Denmark
- Tsardom of Smolensk
- Kola Republic
- Principality of Ingria
- Kingdom of Norway

There are a few importants things to note:
- Do not make only Nordic cross flags.
- For Norway, do not use the Nordic cross design.
- You may use existing flag designs.
- For the Kola Republic, it may be nice to use this coat of arms as inspiration.
- Flags do not always have to be complex with symbolism etc. Nice, simple tricolours with good chosen colours, for instance, are fine too!

Some information about the time frame:
- These countries are in a world around 1800.
- The situation is a mixture of Medieval times (the Late Middle Ages, around 1300-1400 OTL) and the times around World War I (1900 OTL).
- In other words, the social system of the Middle Ages, with the technology of World War I, roughly.
- The reformation has started earlier, is different and lasts longer (and it is called the Religious Revolution).
- The Industrial Revolution is different too - it is split up between an earlier Lesser Indudstrial Revolution (1598-1679) and the Later Industrial Revolution (roughly 1710-1850).
- The Renaissance has taken place earlier, around 1200, and it had started in eastern Europe, in countries like Prussia, Poland, Lithuania etc.

(Is that okay?)

Just an idea, maybe next challenge we can pick a standard size for all entries. Just make them easier to look at and compare.

Incidently, good turnout this turn.

A good idea. It would need to be adjusted for multiple-flag contests, to allow for both the additional flags, and some room for labels.

Yes indeed. Great idea, because now it gets quite difficult to make a choice because all flags are different in size. Also, we could agree upon using all the same "image link maker", for instance imgur.com. That'd make things easier too.
Besides we could for instance give to standard sizes; one for challenges with only one flag, and another (smaller one) for challenges where you're supposed to make multiple flags.
