WI: No Bantu Migrations

What are some ways Africa would be changed if there were no Bantu migrations Possibly due to No Drying Of the Sahara?

Africa would be nigh unrecognizable below outside of North Africa and Ethiopia- and even then, alternate migrations and butterflies might affect them, too.

Indeed, a PoD THAT far back would make the entire world unrecognizable. Except maybe China. You're talking about a PoD ~1000 BC(BCE).

You would have large Pigmy and Bushmen populations in Southern and Central Africa. No idea what a large Pigmy empire would be like.

That's somewhat doubtful. If the Bantu migrations don't take place, then the Nilotic and Cushitic peoples would probably push much farther south. The Khoisan-speaking peoples' range might extend somewhat farther, but but they'd still be pushed out of much of East and Central Africa by the Iron Age invaders from the north. Also, if the Bantu-speakers stay put, then that could lead other West African peoples to migrate out of the region.

Simple but good POD.

Congratulations, you have just changed half of the continent's history and released a gazillion butterflies that will eventually influence Asian and European history on a massive scale. So, have an honorary Red Yam Medal ! :D
