Weekly Flag Challenge: Discussion & Entries

Sorry I think I'm meant to be doing the next challenge. I was waiting for viperhawkz to 'officially' announce the winner but yeah it's getting a bit late now. I'll have a think and try and get one up later tonight.

Just gonna throw this one up here:
The flag of the Finnish Commonwealth of Uusi Helsinki (OTL NYC).
The orange on the flag represents Uusi Helsinki's time as Nieuw Amsteram, while the coat of arms shows UH's ties to the Finnish crown. The symbol of UH's Mayor can be seen in the upper left.

ASB as all hell, but I just couldn't resist...

The flag of Novy Yaroslavl, located where, in another timeline, Toronto would appear.

Very ASB.

(If this wasn't the intent of the challenge, I'll do another flag)

The flag of Kamchatka City (OTL Petrapavlovsk), capital of Kamchatka, the 51st and newest state of the United States of America. Differentiated from the state flag of Kamchatka in that the bright blue and white are inverted, the flag recalls the old arms of Petrapavlovsk, but with varied mountain heights, and the addition of a native Kamchatkan (Itelmen) star symbol. Distinctive, and far more bold and striking than the vast majority of the ATL (and OTL) flags of American States.

New Amsterdam

The field's colours are taken from the flag of its namesake in the Netherland.

The seal contain the following elements:
- The shield display symbols of New Amsterdam industry
- Below the shield is the year of incorporation
- The supporters are a dutch musketeer and an amerindian warrior, 2 worlds coming together
- The scroll contain the words "The Seal of the City of New Amsterdam" in Latin
- Above the shield was originaly a beaver crest but this was changed in 1816 to the current crown

The city's arms feature the wyvern (harking back to its days as the Anglo-Saxon town of Wintonceastra) above a dagger (representing the instrument with which Wiliam Jukson murdered Jon Cave in Wintonburgh on 30 January 1649). The angel supporters recall those who carried Cave's body to heaven as witnessed by his 42 disciples, leading to the founding of Cavism.

Wintonburgh is the only City to bear all the colours of the national flag:

(A timeline in which the Norman Invasion of England did not occur, where Cavism replaced Christianity in Europe and other parts from the 17th century onwards, and Wintonceastra never became Winchester).

My current one - I'll update up if I can

Flag of Dun MacKeye [OTL Quebec City], Province of MacKeye, Realm of New Scotland
