this is a map i've been working on for a long while.

simply put, WWII did not begin until 1942, and Barbarossa was not initiated until a few years after the UK was conquered. This completely changes the course of WWII, resulting in a massive Axis victory. Because Japan never attacked Pearl Harbor, the Americans were unprepared for a Mexican invasion that was aided by Germany. They lost New Mexico and Texas, which were previously promised to Mexico by Germany in WWI if they entered it on the CP side. Cuba made a sweep of the Caribbean, also taking Florida. two major powers arose in South America, who took much land from Brazil. The Middle East, which was conquered my Germany, became a protectorate of Germany. the Indian Empire rose to power some time later, as Japan continued its sweep of East Asia. the Soviet Union is in collapse, as many of its southern provinces have broken away and formed a government of their own. Australia made an alliance with New Zealand, and, after recapturing several islands from Japan, formed the United Oceanian Republic. America and Canada also formed a similar alliance, becoming the North American Union. Finally, Africa is seeing its first independent states after the Second World War, as France is slowly losing power, losing a war to Spain.

im still working to clean it up a bit more. comments are appreciated. approximate date of the map is 1975-1980

I apologize for the immense size of the base map.

If Britan was counquerd,why isn't it German?

my thinking is that it was indeed conquered, but the leader of Germany (whoever succeeded Hitler) decided to make it a separate state under the protection of Germany. Something like Bohemia-Moravia, i suppose. now that i think of it though, it probably should be part of the Reich.

Very ASB. But not a bad first map.

I would say to the cleaning of the borders, making them one pixel thick, and to avoid straight borders like the Mexico-American border.

Still, you managed to avoid the Kazakh border on your first try, not too shabby.

Thank you very much:) My intention for the Mexico-American border, though, was that there was a hard-fought war and Germany, now a superpower, helped to resolve it by giving New Mexico and Texas to Mexico.

A possible future of the world from For All Time:

It's October 2025, and the world is still recovering from its disastrous 20th century.

The United States of America is under new management. After decades of small-government, civil liberties-obsessed Republican rule, the Democrats are back in charge. The President reflects the mood of the country: he's young, charismatic, jingoistic, and expansionist, and Evangelical. His name is Nehemiah Scudder, and he stands tall for law, order, morality, and the military.

Under Scudder's watch, the United States has emerged out of the isolationism of the Feingold and Hagelin Administrations with a bang. Canada was occupied for a third time (sparked by a trade war caused by Scudder during his first term), while northern Mexico was seized with the excuse of cracking down on the drug lords who were running rampant along the border. And this time, Scudder has vowed that the USA is here to stay. Having successfuly assisted the Venezuelans in crushing a rebellion in Nicaragua, and occupied Panama (whose unlamented, Rio-based government-in-exile was foolish enough to demand negotiations over the Panama Canal), Scudder finds himself being compared favorably to Teddy Roosevelt. Except of course that the current President doesn't know much about speaking softly before bringing out the big stick...

Domestically, America has become fairly bullish thanks to the President's foreign policy successes. The bitter riots and economic collapses of the 20th century are a fading memory, despite the continued presence of militia groups convinced that President Scudder wants to rule like Alexander Haig, apocalypic sects given a new boost by the President's promotion of hysterical Evangelical Christianity, and seperatist groups of all stripes mushrooming throughout the Union (think the Alaska Independence Party in OTL, only more engrained, and influential to boot). Of course, the President keeps a close watch on dissidents and potential enemies of all stripes, even if he's limited by President Feingold's old civil liberties laws, which he doesn't have the capital to repeal just yet.

President Scudder has also moved to create a new, united front against Jorg Haider's Fourth Reich. The Federation for Democracy (a successor to the old Collective Security Organization) includes the Commonwealth of Australasia (one of the few social democracies in the world today), an assortment of South American allies/puppets (the strongest of which is Venezuela, which is still undergoing reconstruction from its disastrous confrontation with Brazil during the Haig years), the Kahanist State of Israel, and the reborn Empire of Japan.

The new Empire has done quite a bit of expansion during this century, having begun the laborious process of rebuilding and re-settling what was once Korea and sections of China. The military government in Tokyo, to soothe any misplaced U.S. fears of another Pacific War, has declared itself "America's Sheriff" in the Far East, bringing their point home by dragooning the remaining Chinese and Indonchinese states, plus Thailand and the Philippines, into the Federation (while seizing any nuclear weapons they find for their own arsenal).

The Khanate of Greater Mongolia is unaligned, and has fought several low-level conflicts with the Japanese in former Korea and Indian troops stationed in their puppets of Xinjiang and Tibet in recent decades...

Across the Atlantic is America's arch-rival, the Greater German Reich. Jorg Haider, Chancellor-for-life (better known around the world and at home as the "Grey Chancellor"), and the ruler of the most powerful state in Europe, is feeling optimistic at the moment. Thanks to extremely draconian methods, SPID cases are on the decline. Germany's rebuilt industries pour out the guns, planes, and bombs necessary to keep its puppets in the European Customs Union in line. With the exception of a few rough spots in the Balkans, the Caucuses, Iran, and Central Asia, the Haider Doctrine of ruling by fear of force rather than by force itself has been a success. Like Japan, Germany has undergone quite a bit of expansion during the 21st century thus far, having conquered and absorbed the French states one at a time (usually dealing with rebels through deportation or "resettlement").

The Nordic Union is Germany's only rival on the continent, and has increasingly integrated into more of a federation. Poland, still the wealthiest former Communist state, has joined as an associate member, fearing (correctly) that Haider desires to expand the borders of his Reich to the east. As of now, the Chancellor is far more worried about what Nehemiah Scudder will pull if he tries such a move...

The successor states to the old Soviet Union remained burdened with extreme poverty and extremely high SPID infection rates. Only their retention of nuclear weapons makes anyone take notice. All of these nations rely on the Nordic Union to sheild them from Haider's ambitions.

The Kingdom of England remains an insular, isolationist power, trading mostly with the UK and the Netherlands (all three powers have moved closer together in recent years, in fear of Germany). The English and their Welsh/Scottish cousins once enjoyed cordial relations with the USA, before President Scudder ended any hopes for an alliance with his rather offensive remarks about the peoples of Britain at a state dinner in Washington, soon after he took the oath of office.

The Republic of India, still dominated by Hindutva-affiliated parties, is Germany's strongest allly, still carrying Alexander Haig's destruction of New Delhi in their collective memory. India itself has built a sizable sphere of influence around the Indian Ocean. Its puppet states are happy to do anything asked of them, provided the subsides keep flowing. As of 2025, India is suffering from numerous insurgencies, as Christian, Muslim, Sinhalese, Maoist, Afghani, and Burmese groups wage fierce wars for independence. There doesn't appear to be any end in sight to the problem, unless New Delhi is willing to risk deployment of its top secret nuclear arsenal. But like Haider, India's government is fearful of what President Scudder will unleash if he's given an excuse.

Brazil is another powerful un-alligned nation, happy to trade (or provide asylum) to anyone with the cash. Having built up a network of client states of its own (mostly in the Lusophone countries/colonies in Africa), the Brazilians keep a watchful eye on international developments, ever fearful of a final war erupting between the world's other great powers.

To the south is Argentina, a staunch German ally and associate member of the European Customs Union (which they luckily managed to join before Scudder took office). As of 2025, the Argentines are working overtime to rebuild their air fields and forward bases aimed at Federation member Chile, while with American aid, the Chileans do the exact same thing on their side of the border. Officially of course, both Buenos Aires and Santiago have declared their mutual desire for a continued peaceful co-existance...

The Middle East is dominated by the State of Israel, which has ruthlessly expelled any Arab who was lucky enough to survive Andrei Chikatilo's bombs from its borders. A dependable American ally (ever worried about what Haider would unleash on them if given the chance--although Haider himself never bothers to talk about the Jews; his Reich has too few living in it to care much about), Israel has kept mostly to itself, with the exception of the usual rounds of expansion (including its recent cooperation with France-outre-mer against the Palestinian Republic of Egypt), and its airlift of Ethiopia's Jews out of their homeland during the chaotic early '80s. Other Middle Eastern nations include Kurdistan (which has developed a productive working relationship with the Israelis), and a small number of impoverished Arab states. Oman and the United Arab Emirates became Indian client states to rescue their postwar economies, while what remains of Iran has become a staunch German ally (ruled by a junta that is always jubilant to use the toys provided by Berlin).

Most of sub-Saharan Africa is a hellhole, with warlords, famine, SPID, and extreme poverty making a right thorough mess of things. Greater South Africa has managed (through extremely unpleasant methods) to crush several major pockets of resistance in the south, though the ones in the north have been sustained through American and Brazilian assistance. Haider's Germany, of course, is always eager to ship arms and money to Pretoria in exchange for lucrative mineral extraction contracts. German mercenaries have also been spotted in the South African Defense Forces in recent years, and there has been speculation by international observers that South Africa may attempt to join the European Customs Union, though in reality, South Africa is terrified at drawing President Scudder's attention.

To the north and east, the Congolese Republic and the People's Democratic Republic of East Africa remain ongoing warzones, sustained by the extensive arms trade. Both countries only have theoretical governments; the Congo's, based in the American embassy, and East Africa's, based on Zanzibar.

Ethiopia took advantage of the implosion of the Jerusalem League to move against Somalia and Djibouti, though this has only led to extensive insurgencies fueled by Indian and German arms, while Ethiopia received generous funding by the United States. In recent months, the current junta has considered asking President Scudder for U.S. ground forces, hoping for the best that American firepower can bring the Somalis and co. to heel.

France-outre-mer (the successor state to the old Federation du Maghreb), claiming its mantle as the proud, undefeated remnant of French culture (like those American puppets in Quebec City count for anything!), has undergone extensive territorial expansion in the first twenty-five years of the century, aquiring almost all of the old French Empire's African colonies. Domestically, Algiers claimes to be respectful of the rights of all minorities (as long as they're literate in French and Christian). FOM deals with insurgencies in a matter that would gain Jorg Haider's approval (of course, they despise the Germans almost as much as the groups they're fighting). Despite being officially unaligned, they're happy to form alliances to suit their interests, such as when they aligned with Israel to drive the Palestinians from Cairo.

The Palestinians themselves fled to what was once Sudan, taking over Khartoum. They're currently busying themselves in replentishing their depleted arsenals...

Oil flushed Nigeria is one of the wealthiest countries in Africa, burdened by extreme corruption and the ongoing scourge of SPID. Sierra Leone has the same economic problems Nigeria has in regards to its diamond fields. But things could be worse, considering the state their neighbors are in. In the meantime, President Scudder has deployed U.S. troops to Liberia after being "invited in." Officially, it's to keep an eye on French-outre-mer...

Outside of geopolitics, scientists around the world have noticed an alarming cooling trend in the Earth's climate (caused by the extensive worldwide use of nuclear bombs during the 20th century). Several solutions have been suggested; President Scudder is considering a plan presented to him to blanket the polar ice caps with soot, forcing them to melt, though he hasn't made a concrete decision as of yet.

Technology steadily advances, increasingly being driven by the US-German "Cold Struggle" and the ongoing race between the two powers to land a man (and annex) the Moon (as President Scudder and Chancellor Haider have both vowed to do.

And so, the world turns on, ever fearful of the decades to come...

~~~~~
And here's the map. Light blue marks American client states. Dark green represents German puppets (and members of the European Customs Union), ect...
The white dots represent ongoing insurgencies, of varying degrees of strength.
Not bad for a first try, but a piece of advice, please curve any north-south straight line borders, for the map is a Robinson projection. The only straight lines allowed on this type of map are east-west straight line borders that follow any parallels of latitude, also the only north-south vertical running lines that follows meridians of longitude allowed are the ones that would show up in Africa, in the middle of the map.
How's this? I made the borders 1 pixel wide and also curved the straight north-south borders. i filled in most of the rest of the white spots as well, and erased the rest of the modern-day borders
A slightly more realistic version of the Drakaverse, although I realize I'm pushing it by having a WWI in which Germany, Turkey, and Austria-Hungary are all on the losing side. At least the guy running Socialist Russia [1] isn't called Stalin, and the chap running Germany isn't called Hitler.
Bruce
[1] Socialist rather than Communist since, although fairly nasty in itself, the Russian regime has a fairly different set of ideologies than Lenin & co.
