It has been 129 years since the Frankish and Byzantine Empires arrived on this foreign strange world; and it has been but 29 years since the arrival of the Kingdom of England and the High Kingdom of Skyrim.
Mars Occidentalis:
High Kingdom of Skyrim:
The newly established Nord Kingdom lead to bad blood between remnant Imperials, and the various other groups in the High Kingdom. Frustrated by lack of representation and lack of legal protections, three major groups of people have left Skyrim behind and headed north, and have settled along the fertile, warm coasts.
The High Kingdom of Dunmer was created by Dunmer exiles, spearheaded by the Priests of Mara. Their realm is governed justly, and is in a peaceful relation to the other Exiled Kingdoms.
To their east, sandwiched between the Dunmer and Orcs, is the New Empire; governed by Taurinus Duilis, the former Imperial Legate in Morthal. After the Daedra decreed it that the Empire should be destroyed and Skyrim should be free, he left with all Imperial soldiers in Hjaalmarch and The Pale, and settled to the north, with the Dunmer and Orcs.
The Orcish Kingdom lies to the east of them, and is one of the richer states of the three.
Since their arrival on the shores, their relationship with Catholic Europe has been established. While at first, these Catholics were hostile, the groups reconciled their differences in the name of trade and merchant interests.
The Christians are unsure of what to take of these new pagan faiths that have followed the groups. The Dunmer praised two pantheons of Gods; The Imperials, who resembled that of the Italians and whose culture seemed to be a slightly changed form of Roman, they praised the Nine Divines, who bore strong resemblance to the Roman gods of the Antiquity.
The Christians as well learned of the Orcish God; the closest to their own. Malacath (Christianized as Malachai) held his Orcish followers to a code of honor, seeing them as his brethren, not as subjects. The Christians formed the strongest relationship with the monotheist Orcs, and seemed unsure about how to treat the pagans, particularly after Christian preachers were expelled from the two western Kingdoms.
The Exile Kingdoms are unsure of how to take the story of Jesus Christ (or as they called him Iesus Nazarii) and the divinity of Christ. Many draw comparisons between him and Talos, the divine God-King that once governed mortally. Christianity and the Faiths of Skyrim have entered into an uneasy truce; but the Christians have as well, learned of the Nord faiths.
The Skyrim exiles are surprised to learn that the Nords are part of Christian heritage as well, fearsome raiders with axes and ships that plunder for gold and fertile women; stories told before the Frankish faithful found themselves on a far-off land was that these Nords were frequent visitors to the coasts of France, and that their runestones stood the test of time.
Carolingian Empire:
Despite the arrival of the Skyrim Exiles, the Carolingian Empire has continued on, much as normal. The new concepts of Magicka and other forces have intrigued scholars of Christ, who are unsure how to feel about these seemingly miracle actions.
Some more heretical Christians have proclaimed that Jesus must have had the advanced magical skills these people exhibit -- healing, among other things. The mainstream has not given commitment to it, but Magic has become something of a hobby many Franks adopt.
Germania:
Germany remains the dominant political power in the North, as she now controls almost all of the Island of Arminia. Two new states were established under Imperial purvey; the Duchy of Courania, to the west, and Kaltensumpf to the north.
Magicka has spread a lot stronger in Germania, whose Christian identity seems rapidly failing in favor of a revival of Germanic paganism. This is caused after explorers discovered a large magical tree in the middle of Imperial Lands; scholars have proclaimed it to be Yggdrasil, and that the Thunderer had brought the world here to restore the faith of the Germanics.
This is aided and abetted by the Saxon exiles, who had joined them in their new lands, and had railed against "Latin Christ" in favor of "Germanic Donar!".
The Kaiser remains a Christian, but his faith is flaky at best, and he has become entranced by the magics of the Skyrim peoples; aided by several Imperials who have joined his court as advisors.
England:
The Kingdom of Great Britain was established within no time at all due to the flood of English settlers to the North into Scotland. This sudden population boom soon overflowed, and English settlers, looking for gold, adventure and territory, set sail. Newfoundland, England's one colony on the main continent, has become a major port of production and mining
And the Byzantine Empire progresses along as ever. ^^
