In any case, my wikibox was restrained in the fact I wasn't going to turn Florida into the typecast place of insanity and general dumbfuckery that it always is portrayed as in ATLs. I also kept it at 3 parties because my Wikiboxes tend to grow horizontally, not vertically.

Eh, you just kept it too in line with a conventional political situation.

There's more than enough factions in state politics that if they could survive on their own, they definitely would. They certainly all hate each other enough.

I might've gone a bit overboard with mine, but in a state this heterogeneous, we'd have a lot of parties under a parliamentary system.

About the only insane thing I put in was the Florida Pirate Party, but they're the generic thirdway shitshow you get in a lot of places.

Making Wikiboxes through Wikipedia is stupid hard. It's easier to use Firebug. >_>

*flips table* I'll do this later. @_@

As part of my timeline which I have been working on (and only just posted the introduction to on here!) I have several informational boxes that I have made in preparation for a more wide-scale audience to view.

The first of which is the general informational box that accompanies any normal country. I plan on having a comprehensive history from 1861 to 2015, meaning contemporary informational boxes are a must for me.

Of course, the Point of Divergence is of the utmost importance to understand in any Timeline. For this, I have chosen the time period where in our own History was occupied by the Battle of Antietam. Through various reasons (you'll have to read my timeline!) this outcome was not the same.

The war itself is also covered. No longer known as the "American Civil War" it has become to be known as the "War Between the States" as the least controversial choice of a topic title, again this has political reasons behind it, and discovered more in depth in other postings.

Finally, I have an electoral box. (quite common around here!) This is the 2015 Confederate General Election. Around the turn of the century, (19th to 20th) the Confederacy adopted a Westminster system of government. This has created a dynamic and interesting system of politics which gives the Confederate States of my Alternate Universe a highly unique characteristic.

Do it. They're cool and fairly realistic.

Yay.

Cool. Although those numbers are kind of off. Just, all over the place in the box.

The 1889 Nevada general election was the first one where the opposition party broke through. Stewart did not have his predecessors control over his caucus, and quickly deteriorated into infighting like in the First Government. Eventually the infighting got so bad, three members of the Silver Party left and joined the Citizens in January of 1889. Now as a minority Premier, Stewart had no choice but to call an election and hope to regain his seats. He failed and Woodburn, who embarrassingly beat him in a rematch in their home city of Virginia, won the spot as third Premier.

Woodburn promised fiscal responsibility, tight control over state resources (as many Silverites had been accused in fraudulent sellings of government land), and make the state more attractive to business. Even former Silverites were optimistic for this new government and eagerly awaited the results of the next few years.

Was about to say the same thing, that the Bush family is from Connecticut/Massachusetts and that Santorum is from Pennsylvania.

Rick Santorum was actually born in Virginia. But he was born the son of an Italian immigrant who's family emigrated to the U.S. in the 1930s in OTL. There are some various generous butterfly nets so anything is possible.

To offer a defence of the electoral box that I have posted;

Prescott Bush, a native of Ohio, attended the College of William & Mary (in the Confederate States) instead of Yale. His move to the Confederate States was in 1913, when the country was undergoing a massive and fundamental shift in its political structure. Seeking to capitalise on it, he entered politics early, being elected an MC in 1930 after losing in 1925. An early industrial baron, he brokered high profile deals between mills in the industrial region of the United States in Virginia, helping the Confederacy's lagging mills. The Bush family, even more than in our own timeline, is a political giant.

Rick Santorum's family was unable to move to the United States due to the restrictive immigration laws between the two countries, forcing them to remain in the Confederate States.

Yeah, but a Socialist party winning in the Confederate States? The CSA is normally quite conservative or populist, never explicitly socialist.
