In OTL Castille-Aragon union, the Castilians kept a monopoly over their colonies, reserving business and settlement there against even the Aragonese despite the royal union. Likewise, even when Castille went under the Habsburgs, the colonies remained a Castillian monopoly, not something shared with Austrians or Flemish subjects of the dynasty.

So, if there were an enduring Castilian-Portuguese union instead, a scenario that’s often discussed, would Castilian conquistadors, soldiers, missionaries, traders and migrants operate throughout the colonies and trade routes established by Portuguese? Or would they be shut out?
