In OTL, three years after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 (the last major conflict of Sengoku Jidai, Tokugawa Ieyasu united all warring factions and became the Seii Taishogun. This victory would have lasting effects until the Meiji Restoration of 1868.

In 1548, in OTL, Tokugawa Ieyasu (then known as Matsudaira Takechiyo) was captured at age six as a child by the head of Oda Clan, Nobuhide (father of Nobunaga).
---------------------------------------------------
The following quote is from Wiki encyclopedia:

Nobuhide threatened to execute Ieyasu unless his father severed all ties with the Imagawa clan. Hirotada replied that sacrificing his own son would show his seriousness in his pact with the Imagawa clan. Despite this refusal, Nobuhide chose not to kill Ieyasu but instead held him for the next three years at the Manshoji Temple in Nagoya.

--------------------------------------------------
POD Event:
1548 – Oda Nobuhide decides to kill the boy hostage Ieyasu to show his own seriousness.

So here in begins the new timeline…

1549 – Hirotada (Ieyasu’s father) dies of old age (same as in OTL).

1551 An Imagawa led army (ally of Hirotada) exacts revenge for the killing of Ieyasu by killing Oda Nobunaga (second son of Nobuhide, who will no longer become the first of the Three Great Unifiers). In OTL, Imagawa commander, Sessai spares Nobunaga in exchange for the nine year old boy hostage Ieyasu, who in ATL is no longer alive.

1551 – Oda Nobuhide dies of old age (same as in OTL). The leadership of the Oda Clan is not in dispute as Oda Nobumitsu (Nobunaga’s uncle) assumes elder position. Vowing revenge for the death of Nobunaga, Nobumitsu does not make peace with the Imagawa as Nobunaga did in OTL. Without such an alliance, Owari (Oda Clan’s territory) is vulnerable to attack by the Imagawa.

1551-1560, the Matsudaira Clan (Tokugawa’s family) becomes marginalized as Imagawa dominates all of Suruga, Totomi, and Mikawa provinces. At the same time, the Shiba Clan rises to challenge Oda Clan control of Owari itself. Through a series of political marriage alliances, the Imagawa Clan, led by Yoshimoto controls everything from Suraga province all the way to Kyoto. A foot soldier named Hiyoshimaru (aka Toyotomi Hideoyoshi) demonstrating leadership skills becomes a captain in the service of the Imagawa Clan. However, he never becomes a general. He is subsequently killed in a raid into the Owari province in 1559. In this timeline, he never even meets his OTL benefactor Nobunaga. He does not become the Second Great Unifier.

1559 Oda Nobunaga is assassinated by a Shiba Clan member when it was discovered that Nobunaga had ambitions to kill the head of that clan. All Three Great Unifiers of OTL are dead.

1560 – The Battle of Okehazama (which in OTL Nobunaga rises to national prominence) is entirely unnecessary as the Oda Clan has already faded. Imagawa Yoshimoto begins the unification of Japan, as he marches to the Emperor in Kyoto and uses Ashikaga Yoshihide to set up a puppet Shogun (which by now was only theoretical), Yoshimoto himself taking the post of Sensei Kanrei (Teacher Deputy Shogun)...

More to come later.

The timeline is already too divergent to view historical source. Thanks for the link.

As for the rest of you, comments are welcomed on what can happen next.

Thanks spotting for need for correction. More to come later.
