“Austria” your country

In other words, have your country reduced to a rump state with only a small portion of its holdings.
To ad: Which becomes so wealthy that it forgets it ever had an empire. To compare with "Trianon your country", there's no political movements here, not at the fringe, and not in the wake of the mainstream right like in Hungary, which advocate for "Greater Austria" with maps including Czech Republic and Bosnia and what have you not, at most citizenships for Austrians living in foreign countries but that's in line with what other countries do as well.

As for my own cuntry, you cant Austria Austria, it's already Austria.

Samuel Houston’s proposal + Independent Yucatán Republic +Chiapas goes to Guatemala +Independent Tlaxcala as a cute little Liechtenstein.

Same here with Belgium. Or rather the other way round.... All the interesting parts became The Netherlands in the 1600's. Belgium still is all other the other bits cobbled together under one German king

What if there never was a German reunification? A surviving West Germany/ 11 state BRD might become the only ''true' Germany (with everyone from the East that had some voice or potential already having fled there....) and the remaining East being regarded as some secondhand Austria or Transylvania as in 'Yea, they speak German there, and they were once part of the empire, when there was still such a thing..."

The only problem there is Berlin. OTL, not just the BRD, everyone in the west seemed hell-bent on keeping at least half of the city as their God-given territory and by extension their claim on the surrounding area as well...

A different Soviet leadership with a different strategy (possibly a more successful WW2 without such extreme population losses and no Berlin Wall or sealing off the frontier. As East Germans migrate to West Germany, Soviet Asians and Caucasians (in the literal sense of that word) are imported to replace them. By 1989 the DDR has a population around 8% Mongolian, 35% Kazakh, Kirgiz, Tadjik, Turkmen or Uzbek and 22% Tatar, Chechen, Ossetian, Abkhaz, Armenian, Georgian, Azeri and about 5% Jewish, Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian or Belarusian. Ethnic Germans make up only 30% of the population. When the Soviet Union finally collapses in 1992, the DDR shows little enthusiasm for reunification and the FRG even less. Further German emigration following complete disillusionment with socialism accompanied by the Russian and Ukrainian minorities from the former Moldova seeking new homes following the reunification with Romania and some discrimination means that by 2018 the "DDR" has an ethnic German population of only 24%.

Hmm, how to remake the Heptarchy? I suppose if the anti-Highlands cultural backlash after the Jacobite rebellion wasn't cancelled out by the Victorian regeneration it would likely lead to an even stronger backlash to the backlash, possible splitting the Union. Collapsing England though? Not sure.

Have New England leave during 1812, but still enough of a free soil movement vs slave there's a similar compromise.

The CSA still forms, without New England and a New England actively helping Dixie (for its cotton not its cause) the US looses that.

Further west a movement begins in California believing that they shouldn't have to pay for Philadelphia's distant government they leave and take the West with it.

A communist moment begins in Chicago during the early 20th century, another civil war. This one takes the Midwest.

In the end the "United States of America" consist of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
