  1. what should I do with Nevada

Depending on the PoD, Mormons could be butterflied completely. While there have been some good ideas thrown around, without knowing @606jae 's PoD we can only be so specific how to divide the West.
  2. what should I do with Nevada

100k is a lot of people for statehood, and would drastically slow down the growth of states into the U.S. After all, the total population was barely 4 million in 1790. Additionally, remember that Alaska and Hawaii were territories until 1959. If you want to carve up Nevada, its probably better...
  3. TL: The War of Dogger Bank, or the Anglo-Russian War - Version 2

You have my interest. And now you have my attention. Subscribed and looking forward to more.
  4. what should I do with Nevada

Alternatively, if your PoD is far enough back to split California in two, you could go the opposite direction that @Kevin Lessard talked about, and move California's eastern border a little more west. @Thisisnotausername gave all the info you need on Clark County, and how loss to Arizona would...
  5. WI: Lenin isn't allowed passage to Russia?

Agree with what you said before I started quoting you. However, and correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Russia also going through famine at the time? Add in that a lot of the territories won at Brest-Litvosk are the same areas that had been battleground for the past 3-4 years, I doubt there'd be...
  6. WI: Louisiana Purchase in two different scenarios

In the 2nd scenario the OP posited, maybe. But in the 1st scenario, without Canada how would Britain retain or even defend the Oregon country in the long run? I guess you could go with the idea that the loyalists moved west but between the massive distance, Native tribes and next to no existing...
  7. Map Thread XIII

That is one hell of a resistance the Danes are putting up. Also, I see the Swedes have fallen back to Gotland.
  8. A Glorious Union or America: the New Sparta

Great update KI! Love the idea that Kearny was basically trolling Bismarck because he was bored and ill. Personally I'm pulling for France in a Franco-Prussian War while simultaneously hoping their adventure in Mexico turns out badly. Nothing against Mexico, a strong Mexico at this point in...
  9. How quickly could Britain/France defeat and occupy Nazi Germany?

So if the French plans were similar what the OP asked, then it would seem the easiest way to fulfill the OP would be to get the Poles to hold out longer. That doesn't seem terribly difficult on the face of it. First, don't have the Poles agree to cancel their mobilization on August 30th. Going...
  10. US victory in war of 1812 american gains

I don't see the US getting a Caribbean island. Even in 1815 they were too valuable. A better campaign in Canada could see the US getting at least something in the peace treaty, but I doubt the British would give up a Caribbean island even if the US (somehow) took all of Canada at the time. Just...
  11. Map Thread XIII

Sure, I got one. Is that a U.S. controlled Siberia? It looks like it but I'm viewing it on my phone, so its not the easiest to tell. Also, I like this series. Looking forward to more.
  12. ATL: A Crippled History of New England

Just read through this TL. I quite like it and and am intrigued on where it will go. Your writing is very good and I very much like your presentation and unique take on the "splintered America" premise. Please keep up the good work, and if I may ask, what is happening in Europe? You mentioned...
  13. More Convenient and Appropriate Cut-Off Dates for CE and BCE

I have to put another vote in for the Holocene calendar. No "Before this" or "After that". And its a calendar that applies to all Humanity. Plus, as LHB said, it would be cool to write the date with the year 12015 HE.
  14. Map Thread XIII

You really should make this into a full fledged TL. Did the FSA pick Philadelphia as the capital for mostly historical reasons? Because at about only 50 miles (80 ki) from the border with a revanchist USA it seems a bit precarious.
  15. Map Thread XIII

In the event TTL USA does fall prey to a militant socialist movement, I could see the free (as in non-slave) states, like Iowa, Minnesota and maybe California and Oregon join the FSA. Granted a situation like that is usually used in a balkanized-USA scenario, but if this militant socialist...
  16. Is there a snowball's chance in hell of Poland defeating the Red Army in 1939?

Oh, I was not denying that at all. Just stating in a reply to the other poster that I thought it unlikely that Hitler would snap one day and decide to kill all the Poles. From my understanding OTL Poland knew they'd be a literal puppet, which is why they rejected the offer.
  17. Is there a snowball's chance in hell of Poland defeating the Red Army in 1939?

Possibly. IIRC Hitler tried to get Poland in the Axis. Poland refused, fearing becoming a German client-state. If, for whatever reason the Soviets attacked first and accepting German assistance is the only way to not become the latest SSR, Poland probaby would bite the bullet. As for whether...
  18. How big could U.S. ground forces realistically be in WWII?

Agree on point 2, disagree on point 1. Others above have pointed out ways the U.S. could have had more troops, with the "No tank destroyer" point near the top of the list. But if the U.S. HAD too, they could reduce L-L to the USSR, and use that to supply more American forces. Granted I don't...
  19. Disaster at Leuthen TL - Frederick the Great dies in battle

    Congratulations on the win Direwolf!
  20. Disaster at Leuthen TL - Frederick the Great dies in battle

Direwolf offered cameos for people who vote for Disaster at Leuthen in the Turtledoves. As for what name you choose that's up to you. Some seem to have used their real names, others haven't. So if you don't want to use your name then either make one up for the country you want your character...
