List of Alternate Monarchs and Aristocratic Lineage II

That's as OOC as they come, I'm with Kellan on this. Also, I don't see Catherine being like her mom. Also, Cat as a regent would go for Austrian alliance especially after her brother's marriage. So I can see OTL Princess Sobieski happening to be a Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland (a nice...

what would you change in the popes of the past

Though "Christian Ulugh Beg" situation is still a risk, a Cardinal has more time to be occupied with science and no need to meddle in Italian politics (to which he would be a stranger with all issues this entails).

What if a different Louis XIV, Louis the Builder, not Louis the Fighter?

Mary II is of the same degree of relation as what he did marry (just a switch of second cousins around). Though Mary has some commoner blood and no inbred grandparents.

What if a different Louis XIV, Louis the Builder, not Louis the Fighter?

In the scenario when the Prince of Asturias to ATL Carlos II is born in 1657, a designated wife for him for Austrian alliance would come from Tyrolean Habsburgs. Claudia Felicitas of Tyrol is the only Habsburg in the market. Ferdinand III was fine with a single alliance, so Leopold or Ferdinand...

what would you change in the popes of the past

A favorite WI of mine (Cusano is overlooked in favor of J.Bruno who plagiarized A LOT of Cusano ideas but can be sold to Enlightment crowd as a martyr or some BS; I'm a big fan of Cusano). Though it may end up a "Christian Ulugh Beg" situation (a great scientist whose greatness is diminished by...

WI: Catherine the Great was never born?

It was in a TL when he died in 1697:)

    Mary of Burgundy born male?

I agree to this match. Though if Anne's issue is as OTL, this would be an OTL problem brought up a generation later.

WI: No Hannoverian Dynasty, or Queen Anne of Great Britain has surviving children

Better health definitely means longer life.

Russia removed from Europe in Crimean war

And creating HUGE Galicia and Lodomeria encompassing Poland and Ukraine (and probably Belarus) would not be the independence. This would be hugely rewarding Austria and changing one "prison of nations" (c) for another.

Russia removed from Europe in Crimean war

Especially Austrians. If Belarus can into independence, Bohemia can as well.

Russia removed from Europe in Crimean war

Teaching a Belarusian a history of Belarus. Self-government movement demand WAS there in 1863 (see Kalinouski rebellion) but finding foreign backers for this (other than PLC restoration)? Independent Ukraine can be sold as bigger Galicia and Lodomeria, but why would Austrian government try to do...

Russia removed from Europe in Crimean war

That. The POD amounts to restoring PLC and Swedish Empire to early 17th century borders, which at least Prussians would not like for obvious reasons.

Russia removed from Europe in Crimean war

We had no "wholesome" partitions dated back to 17th century and no strong West-East division, speaking as Belarusian to you.

Russia removed from Europe in Crimean war

Restoring PLC and Sweden in its 1650ies borders would require ASBs with hypnobeams. That's contrary to real politics of the time. And concepts of independent Belarus and Ukraine separate-from-PLC identity are anachronistic as of the time.

Realistic Borders of the Spanish Netherlands (Post-Split)

Quite agree to this. An idea of capital moving to Lisbon, though, was here and there during OTL Felipe III reign but never went anywhere. But yes, French are common and traditional enemy.

Realistic Borders of the Spanish Netherlands (Post-Split)

In fact, ITTL, since Diego's upbringing was the one of PORTUGUESE heir, he got a Portuguese wife and all this - we can see Portugal not only staying within the Empire but drifting to be its center, while Mediterranean posessions (Italian lands & maybe Aragon) end up to be the ones revolting...

Realistic Borders of the Spanish Netherlands (Post-Split)

At least Russian wiki article on Diego says that should Diego survived, his dad planned to marry him to Isabella Braganza (who likewise died IOTL in 1582). That would have allowed him to keep a hold on Portugal and would have somewhat diluted the mainline blood. If both Diego and Isabella...

The Perfumed King — An Alternate History of the Reign of Philippe VII of France

Why ASBish? If the idea is to avoid personal unions, then he's good, and Leopold Jr. feels he's going to compensate his uncle with something for stepping aside from the idea of getting himself elected as Emperor. Spanish crown sounds like a good "something", and he's already a Governor of...

WI: Prince William, Duke of Gloucester lives to 21 instead of 11?

I'm talking about this. We decided to butterfly the OTL succession crisis away to avoid King Alexander I Romanov (by technicality).
