  3. My AH novel, "One Nation, Under Jupiter" is now complete and online!

Hi everyone. I know I've had a few posts about this sporadically before. I thought it was worth giving everybody an update. Over the past few years, I've been working on a novel called "One Nation, Under Jupiter" an alternate history novel about a world where Constantine died at Milvian Bridge...
  4. One Nation, Under Jupiter

I did, but someone suggested I'd have better luck here.
  5. One Nation, Under Jupiter

Hey everybody! I know it's been a long time since I last posted. You might have remembered me working on a AH novel about a world where Christianity faded out and people still worship the Roman gods in the present. Well, I'm pleased to announce that I will be posting the novel in regular...
  6. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian (Updated)

Thanks a bunch for the criticism, guys. I wasn't aware of how many holes my timeline had. A little disheartening, but it's good to know so I can take them into account. Regarding the doctrine of salvation: I imagined that the Greco-Roman afterlife would be played up later on to something closer...
  7. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian (Updated)

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking too much about the fact that Buddhism is atheistic on its own to take into account how it can be compatible with other faiths. I'll revise things so the Romans aren't as anti-Buddhist as I first thought. I appreciate the help. I'm a little new to this whole AH...
  8. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian (Updated)

Yeah, I admit I needed to do a lot of steering at the start, which I feel kind of bad about. My idea was that Maxentius utilized diplomacy and convinced the other two Emperors to put their personal differences aside for the good of the Empire, specifically in ridding it of Christianity. Just...
  9. WI The Central Powers won the First World War?

The Ottoman Empire was already pretty much on life support well before WWI, so I couldn't see it lasting more than a few more years. The better question is what would happen to all its former territory without it being spoils of war. I doubt Austro-Hungary would be interested in it since taking...
  10. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian (Updated)

Any feedback is appreciated. If something seems off, let me know.
  11. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian (Updated)

1065-1100 AUC -Maxentius kills Constantine at the Battle of Milvian Bridge, becomes Emperor of Rome and resolves issues with Licinius. -Maxentius (Western Europe and North Africa, Mediolanum), Licinius (Eastern Europe and Asia Minor, Nicomedia), and Maximinus II (Syria and Egypt, Antioch)...
  12. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian (Updated)

Hey everyone. A few months ago, I made a thread about a timeline I was working on where Rome never adopted Christianity as the state religion, which I'm currently working on a novel based on. It turns out going into too much detail for 1,700 years' worth of history was a little more work than I...
  13. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian.

Although for many decades, the strife between Roman and Goth was perhaps the most pressing issue in the Empire, a common enemy would soon turn the conflict into little more than a distant memory. In 1143, the Huns, the same savages that drove the Goths into Rome’s embrace so long ago, turned...
  14. WI: Clovis I converts to Arianism

Catholicism would likely have never taken hold in Europe. Could make for an interesting timeline.
  15. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian.

Although Galerianus’ section of the Empire triumphed over its foreign neighbors, the rest of Rome still adhered to the foolish policy of tolerance. As the savage Huns advanced westward, the Goths turned to the Roman Empire’s protection in 1129. With the Eastern Empire still short on the hands it...
  16. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian.

City after city fell to the combined strengths of the Roman and Armenian hordes. The defenseless men of Persia panicked at the sight of Galerianus’ armies. Those found in Christian temples when the invasion came, praying to their false idol for the fear to come to an end, met the sword. As the...
  17. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian.

Nice observation! Yes, no Christianity means no Anno Domini year numbering system, so instead I'm going by the Ab Urbe Condita system, which numbers years from the founding of Rome in 753 BC. The novel will take place in the present, in the year 2766. :p
  18. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian.

Most Christian records were destroyed during the Purge of Maxentius, so modern knowledge of it in this timeline is extremely slim. The concept of the Holy Trinity and even Jesus' name are completely unknown.
  19. One Nation, Under Jupiter: Rome Never Goes Christian.

I do plan for the pantheon to be updated over the years. It won't be exactly like its classical self. Are there any thoughts regarding the parts of the timeline I've posted so far? Would anyone like to see more?
