  1. Alternative Franco-Prussian War peace deals

Supposing that the peace restored the status quo would this have effected the creation of the German Empire?
  2. Alternative Franco-Prussian War peace deals

Historically Prussia formed the Empire of Germany and took Alsace-Lorraine from France during the peace settlement. I've been trying to think up some alternate peace deals that do not result in Alsace-Lorraine being ceded to Germany. Perhaps there are people better versed with the war and its...
  3. Making things more favorable for First Nations

I'm not so much talking about giving them advantages or anything ASB but more along the lines of Europeans treating them differently after contact. Is a more peaceful coexistence possible?
  4. WI: Imperial Family Escapes

I assume they would do what any royal family in their position would. Flee to another country ruled by a realitive.
  5. Barbarossa: how would you do it?

I wouldn't it. I'd finish off the Western Allies via bombing Britain into peace or submission. Focus on the USSR in 45 or 46.
  6. WI: Dieppe succeeds

You make it sound like that the Allies would hold the port for a long time. It was always meant to be a raid, not an invasion. A big raid mind you but raid nonetheless. Holding Dieppe any longer then a day would have been foolhardy and I don't think the Allies would have thought that a direct...
  7. WI: Dieppe succeeds

And this seems like it was the main goal, over half the forces involved were focused on securing the port specifically the HQs of the navy and army. It was very top secret stuff actually. When the raid failed they needed an excuse so as to not alert the Germans to the real objective.
  8. WI: Dieppe succeeds

I don't think a successful Dieppe would lead to a second front or early D-Day. I think that it would probably lead to an earlier cracking of Enigma though probably cementing the Allies position in the Atlantic a lot sooner. Thoughts?
  9. How possible is it for the Chinese to beat the Europeans to the New World?

I suppose a PoD would be Zheng He going west instead of south then east to Africa. Though there might be better my understanding of Asian history is vague at best. So could the Ming or really any Chinese dynasty beat the Europeans to the New World?
  10. No Amazon

I'll admit I didn't think out the implications of the lack of the rainforest. At least from my understanding its coming about is based around a "perfect storm" of climatic conditions more then geological conditions. If one of the climatic conditions were to be altered I would think the Amazon...
  11. WI: Stalin invades Yugoslavia, overthrows Tito

I think WWIII is a bit a stretch. Both the Allies and Soviets were exhausted from WWII. A war would have the nations crumbling from within with a populace unwilling to go to war so soon. Even Stalin would lose control. Could Stalin have taken Yugoslavia and gotten away with it? I think so, but...
  12. WI: Bruce Wayne TV Series Gets Made

That'll depend on how popular the series is. If its as popular Smallville was in OTL. Don't expect a Batman trilogy until 2012 or 2013 at the earliest.
  13. Victoria II

I just bought Victoria 2. I'm playing as Sweden for my first game, any tips for me? I'm a EUIII vet if it helps.
  14. No Amazon

Plants produce O2. Having no Amazon would affect the levels of both CO2 and O2 in the atmosphere. Now that I think about it this could cause a lot of butterflies at least with life on Earth.
  15. Victory at Waterloo?

What if Blucher died before the Hundred Days while in retirement in Silesia? Natural causes seems the most likely cause. Of course the Prussians would replace him but who would the replacement be and would they be able to defeat Napoleon?
  16. Is USSR doomed if Japan invades?

A simple WI, if Japan, for whatever reason, honours their alliance with Germany and attack the USSR via Manchuria is the USSR doomed?
  17. Germania Triumphant

Could Germania have unified into a civilization capable of going toe to toe with Rome? And if that's too ASB how soon could the Germanic tribes invade Rome?
  18. No Amazon

I'm not too fond of big geological or environmental changes in regards to AH but this one sounds interesting to me. What if there is no Amazon rainforest? The forest is gone but Earth's O2 levels unaffected. Other forests are bigger to make up for it but its spread evenly. At least that's one...
  19. Could the Church accept the Reformation?

Just an idea that popped into my head one day. I'm not sure how it would come about (I only have a broad understanding of the period not a more detailed one, working on it) but what if the Church and Papacy accept some (or all I suppose however unlikely) of the changes Luther suggested. Instead...
  20. WI: Arthur Tudor King of England

Arthur died at the age of 15 in 1502 historically due to unknown causes. In my understanding at least Arthur was being groomed for the throne far more then Henry was. As well as being married to Catherine of Aragon at the time. What if Arthur didn't die in 1502 and lived to be King?
