    So there's two possibilities: The universe is 100% deterministic. This predictable, however, see chaos theory as to how this could still give quite the headache. There are truly random variables, in which case we'll have to deal with reality in terms of probabilities.

    Well if history is 100% deterministic then she does have a point that history happened the way it did and couldn't have happened any other way. If there are random variables in the universe, like maybe quantum stuff then AH has a legitimate raison d'être.

    Hey, that's actually not too bad. The problem with jingoistic movies is to have an enemy which doesn't offend anyone if they're shot to pieces (Red Dawn ignores this rule...). Hence why I think this genre has searched for their villains in either the past (fighting caricature nazi's or Brits)...

    :eek: That's bloody awesome. I think that the jingoistic epic (The Patriot, Transformers, Independence Day, ...) is truly one of the most misunderstood genres of movies. Shame I have no idea what kind of story an EU themed Hollywoodian blockbuster would have.

    It's an immensely intriguing concept indeed. I've actually had this idea for years. Tho in my version the whole system is quite deterministic. There are some random variables, yes, but major trends are mostly going to happen no matter what a certain pivotal figure does IMHO.
