  1. Map Thread XXI

This is my first post in a Map Thread in 2.5 years. :coldsweat: Some of the older folks on here might recall that I was once a rather active map maker and also wrote a TL, named Arladyana, but the TL has been abandoned and I had other things to do IRL. I might reboot the timeline one day and...
  2. Latest possible PoD to restore Egyptian religion?

Yes. You might want to read my post again.
  3. Latest possible PoD to restore Egyptian religion?

If by "restored" you mean "adapted by later generations after having in practice died out", then I think it is not unreasonable to propose a very recent (or even future) POD. A rough sketch: -the Arab Rebellion is successful leading to a unified and relativly stable Arab state stretching from...
  4. L’Aigle Triomphant: A Napoleonic Victory TL

I just read the whole timeline and I really lke it, but I feel your division of Silesia could be improved upon. Giving Polish speaking Upper Silesia to Warsaw and German speaking Lower Silesia to Saxony would IMHO make the most sense. Does Brandenburg keep Pommerania or will it be seperated...
  5. Map Thread XIX

Saxony-Hesse-Lüneburg is the most beautiful thing I have seen, but I think calling it Saxony would be enough. Lüneburg itself was a remnant of the old Saxon stemduchy and the electorate of Saxony is higher in rank than both Hesse and Lüneburg. Mind if I make a cover of your map?
  6. Map Thread XIX

On this day 10 years ago I created my account :D To celebrate I wanted to share with you a WIP I have been working on in my spare time. The family tree/map (also WIP-ish)
  7. DBAHC: Convert the majority of sub-Saharan Africans to Christianity and/or Islam

OOC: Are you saying sub-Saharan Africa is NOT majority Christian/Muslim today?
  8. Aged Historical Figures (and their offspring)

    Nappy with or without beard?
  9. AHC: Queen Victoria, the Empress of China

Something happens in China that didn't IOTL. The British royal family talks about this event. --> China affects Britain. Victoria might turn out to be a Victor, a miscarriage or stillborn.
  10. Christian syncretism with Greco-Roman religion

That is not true. IOTL many Gods have filled the role of highest godhead not only Zeus, especially during the Roman era. Isis and Sol are the most well-known. In neo-platonic thought, which was dominant among the elites but probably not among commoners, the One was imagined as the highest...
  11. Christian syncretism with Greco-Roman religion

I think it is not that difficult. Have it similar to some buddhist schools: Gods exist but they can't aid in salvation. Have Jesus say something along the lines of: "It is of no importance, who you make sacrifice to, but salvation is solely achieved through the Father." There is IOTL actually...
  12. WI: an eastern Roman Empire based around Mesopotamia.

Your well guarded mountain fortress is worthless in the case of war because it does exactly nothing to protect the all-important provinces to the south. And it is equally worthless during peace time because it seperated it is on the very periphery of the Roman and Persian world.
  13. WI: an eastern Roman Empire based around Mesopotamia.

Connectivity? It is close to the furthest you can get in this hypothetical ERE from the rich Mesopotamian provinces and the all important Mare Nostrum.
  14. King Theodore's Corsica

Woohoo my home city was named in my favourite TL! (Sadly not in a positive context)
  15. What would be a theoretically maximum victory for the Crusades?

It this some kind of cruel joke? :(
  16. King Theodore's Corsica

If Don Federico and his wife ever get a son - who then could be designated as crown prince by Theodore - I think he should be named something like: Teodoro Federico Andrea San Pietro ... in honour of the king, the child's father, maternal grandfather and Sampiero Corso. EDIT: In the unlikely...
  17. Map Thread XVIII

All districts of the DDR were named after their capital city. The capital of Neubrandenburg was the town of Neubrandenburg.
  18. Greco-Roman philosophy and religion mixed into one universal faith.

Due to time constrains I will not go into greater detail about your arguments, but I must say that some of the things you wrote, like the above quotation, are gross misrepresentations of ancient paganism. You could dismiss every religion with an emphisis on orthopraxi in this way: "Orthodoxy is...
  19. Is there a way to make a Proto-Capitalist Catholic England

The Hanseatic league had reached its zenith before the reformation and would loose a lot of influence in the 16th century. Regarding Sweden (can't talk about the rest), while it was well administrated and could punch far above its weight following the reformation, this had only partially to do...
