  1. Map Thread XIX

Yeah, that's a good point and I realized this after I finished. I'll fix this if I ever fix the map. Good point on Cameroon as well, although some of the borders are so vague that I can't tell if they're intentionally different from OTL or not.
  2. Map Thread XIX

I can't find a source for this map, but someone posted it on Reddit saying that it's a 1963 prediction of Africa in 2000. I attempted to worlda-ize it.
  3. The least meaningful "Great Man"

I think the "Great Man theory" sounds outdated because of the name (why does it have to be gendered?) but if you ignore that, there is definitely something to it. It seems pretty ridiculous to claim that Caesar wasn't that important, especially when you also factor in that he posthumously...
  4. A Blank Map Thread

Yes, I know that. That's why I like your map.
  5. A Blank Map Thread

Yeah, I like your map better. Stripes don't really tell you anything about which CD is which.
  6. Map Thread XIX

I don't think so. I got carried away. I'll stop, sorry.
  7. Map Thread XIX

The post in question is arguing that Occitan isn't a dialect--and neither is Portuguese.
  8. Map Thread XIX

Literally no one said this though. You're arguing with a straw man.
  9. Map Thread XIX

Could you point me to where I told Portuguese people they're Spanish?
  10. Map Thread XIX

I never said they were the same language, just that they're in the same grouping (Ibero-Romance, specifically West Iberian). And I don't think anyone here is arguing that they're the same language. Any actual linguist in any TL who looks objectively at Spanish and Portuguese would tell you that...
  11. Map Thread XIX

There's no such thing as "Occidental French". Occitan is an entirely different language that happens to also be spoken in France. Sure, they're both Gallo-Romance languages, but Spanish and Portuguese are both Ibero-Romance languages.
  12. Our Fair Country: The Commonwealth of New England

Very sad to see this timeline go; it was every bit as good as everyone says and I always enjoyed updates. That said, your new project looks awesome! I can't wait to find out more about this world.
  13. A Blank Map Thread

Their stripes in Maine and Nebraska are awful. This map looks much nicer. 270towin is good for doing quick calculations though.
  14. List of Alternate Presidents and PMs II

What if the US chose Presidents yearly by randomly selecting a state governor? 1788 Benjamin Franklin (I-PA) 1789 Beverley Randolph (I-VA) 1790 John Eager Howard (F-MD) 1791 Josiah Bartlett (DR-NH) 1792 Charles Pinckney (F-SC) 1793 Thomas Chittenden (I-VT) 1794 Isaac Shelby (DR-KY) 1795 John...
  15. AHC American English more "North England"-esque

American English didn't arise because of schoolteachers or Merriam-Webster; it arose because people changed the way they spoke over many generations. So basically, more northern British emigration to the US could do it, regardless of their professions. Not sure how to accomplish this, but...
  16. Our Fair Country: The Commonwealth of New England

Is Berke the Governor of East Tennessee?
  17. Map Thread XIX

I love it (especially the weird border stuff) but the Quabbin Reservoir shouldn't be there.
  18. Map Thread XIX

I would change that. Don't let official AH.com color schemes get in the way of map readability (I would also change Georgian so it doesn't look like a close relative of Cyrillic). Really cool map though; I'd love to see it extended to the whole world.
  19. List of Alternate Presidents and PMs II

I mostly used a random number generator for this one. 35. Prescott Bush 1961-1965 36. J. William Fulbright 1965 (died) 37. Dean Rusk 1965-1973 38. John Wesley Snyder 1973-1981 39. Bill Clinger 1981-1986 (died) 40. Otis Bowen 1986-1993 41. Kay Granger 1993-1997 (opted not to run for re-election)...
  20. Our Fair Country: The Commonwealth of New England

I don't think it was ever trying to be a dystopia or a utopia.
