  1. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

The south already has a distinctive accent, but I'm curious, would this kind of thinking be a reason for spelling/language reform there as well? Formalizing and incorporating pronunciation would really drive home that separation from the Yankees.
  2. Into the Cincoverse - The Cinco de Mayo EU Thread and Wikibox Repository

That makes way more sense lol. The hazards of having worked as a children's librarian!
  3. Into the Cincoverse - The Cinco de Mayo EU Thread and Wikibox Repository

Rick Riordan as a politician or activist is an interesting pull! By chance are any of the ICP's founding members from Michigan? ;)
  4. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Does it really matter that much? IMO the point of FDR being there was the allusion to his OTL naval secretary role and losing the use of his legs. It's worth remembering that this is still a story, quibbling over specific ranks of characters misses the broader narative.
  5. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Can explain what you mean by this? You've said it a couple times and I'm not sure I understand.
  6. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

This definitely seems like we'll be seeing a repeat of OTL reconstruction, where the US occupies the Confederacy just long enough to ensure abolition, but not long enough to prevent the emergence of segregation. I know we've had some hints that the Confederacy ends up resembling Apartheid South...
  7. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

All the regions have their strengths and good qualities, but the west has the most potential to be economically viable on its own. I think ultimately any partition would leave the components weaker than they would be together, which I'm sure we'll be seeing postwar.
  8. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Great as always! I have a couple questions on the Florida cession. First, is the US annexing just the major keys, or the smaller ones to the north of the main chain? I think they're mostly uninhabited, but depending on how hard the US navy want's to lock down the strait they could be useful...
  9. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Compared to some of what has been discussed in the thread, Virginia got off pretty light. West Virginia being smaller than OTL to start does put a damper on any maximalist proposals though. In my head this just means there are weirdos in TTL West Virginia who are mad into the 21st century that...
  10. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Lexington was also (and to an extent still is) a major rail hub, giving it back to the Confederates would not only give their rump Kentucky population and prestige, but also a vital transport link.
  11. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Splitting off just the east region on this map could work, potentially also including the E8 area in the "free commonwealth". That would leave all major cities and most rail lines in US friendly hands, and protect Cincinnati. If you were worried about the area south of Louisville you could also...
  12. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Yeah, I can't vouch for the accuracy on lakes not being modern, this is just a 1914 basemap I found. The Confederacy failing to address the Missippi trying to reroute sounds extremely plausible imo. We know they will be a basket case into the 21st century, though Long may pursue some kind of...
  13. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Fairly low effort, but I mocked up what I think is the extent of CS, US, and Texan control at the armistice. Might do some more showing the situation in Chile, Central America, and Africa considering that's where we've seen the biggest changes from the last map. A bit optimistic on CS control...
  14. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

Don't forget, Confederate mercenaries operating in Belgian Congo were already kidnapping Africans and trafficking them to be enslaved in the CSA. It was alluded to be a big scandal, but I think events over took it. I wouldn't mind a flashback or something discussing that, as well as the alluded...
  15. Sequel de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo, Vol. II)

I know it's not your intention here, and after 50+ of being unified in an independent CSA it would be unlikely to stick, but I'm personally fascinated by the concept of a balkanized American South. There are broad similarities, but as you've already shown in Texas those aren't as deep as a lot...
  16. Blue Skies in Camelot: An Alternate 60's and Beyond

Not upset at all! Sorry if I came across that way. Glad you've enjoyed reading stuff on the site, and I hope I haven't made you feel like you can't enjoy participating in discussion.
  17. Blue Skies in Camelot: An Alternate 60's and Beyond

Since you only just got an account you may not know this, but it's generally considered rude to do this kind of poking at the author. The thread will be updated when and if the update is ready. You bugging OP is not going to change that, it just clogs up the thread.
  18. Twilight of the Valkyries: A 20 July Plot TL (Redux)

Unsure about the final effects of the national assembly as that appears to still be playing out with Heriot and Petain now in control of it. Two previous chapters cover the results of the Paris uprising.
