  1. Mexico becomes independent in 1808?

Here's my thread on that idea, kind of: https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/spanish-court-in-exile-in-the-new-world.513570/
  2. Realistic 'For Want of a Nail'

It really fits with The Peshawar Lancers' hybridized empires shtick and disappointing there's neither no indirect crossover (USM forms in the wake of the Fall) or direct crossover (the Fall happens in FWoAN universe) that explores the idea with the various TPL improvement projects on this board...
  3. Mexico becomes independent in 1808?

Okay it's beyond the scope of this POD to combine POD's but now I'm imagining @DougM 's conception of a "Quebec Libre" that attains independence alongside the United States, and how it establishes a precedence for a semi-feudal conservative Catholic sister republic. See quotes from this post...
  4. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

As per the story in the OP, Schwarzenegger was supposed to be Busey's character, but didn't like the reduced role and being turned into a villainous character, or the city setting. But maybe sub in Carl Weathers then to achieve a similar effect. Also it would be cool because both he and Glover...
  5. AHC: Smallest, most desolate rump state possible

The French could also be in Tahiti, which is at least much more comfortable, as they are in Worldwar, though that might be a choice unique to that alien invasion setting. On the other hand, it would be funny if the Free French can't get their act together so they're like divided between a St...
  6. AHC: Wank the Reform Party (USA)

It's weird but this is a reoccurring pattern that happens every time there's a successful fringe movement. Even in 2016 you had a few weirdoes saying that Trump and Sanders should run on a joint ticket of the fringe. Because the duopoly is so entrenched, success (in relative terms) finds other...
  7. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

I think the above concept also clearly establishes the franchise's identity as being about the world's best fighters against the ultimate warriors from beyond the stars. Like Alien is about escaping from the ultimate killing machine (ironically, the true ultimate predator) from beyond the stars...
  8. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

Combining my research about how Schwarzenegger lost interest in the franchise after the original, and my "Predator franchise accidentally invents MCU post-credits scenes" idea from up-thread, maybe Dutch turns into the "cigar-chomping man" who shows up at the end of each installment, recruiting...
  9. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

It's rare, but such franchises exist- you've got your Mad Max, John Wick, etc. But I guess to achieve that with Predator, you also need continuity of the franchise around a strong core character who can pull off summer action and stylish or smart world-building. You'd really need to get...
  10. AHC: Smallest, most desolate rump state possible

All these pages and no one mentioned De Gaulle declaring a democratic French republic in St. Pierre and Miquelon against Raoul Salan's dictatorial regime in For All Time?
  11. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

For all of the franchise's decline, Alien was always helmed by auteurs. The original Predator was directed by John McTiernan who is a solid action director but the sequel was by Stephen Hopkins, who doesn't seem to be as good, and even said of the film - "It’s so over the top. I just sort of...
  12. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

I have to wonder if that story might have been based on early drafts of Predator 2. As per my OP, Dutch was supposed to return. Me bumping this thread I made several years ago was, yes. And to see if anyone is interested in my Black Forest-set buddy commando movie where Arnold and Danny Glover...
  13. Predator franchise gets a quadrilogy earlier on

Now that Prey is out, I wonder how it compares. Now I’m imagining that what if the Alien franchise had mirrored Predator, and what its equivalent to Prey would be (Native?) It would be cool to have xenomorphs in a historical setting prequel rather than Ridley Scott tripping over and retconning...
  14. The Wang Jingwei regime (Reorganized National Government of China) survives WWII

Aren’t there some WWII timelines where Vichy France cuts itself loose, cozies up to the Allies, and throws off the fascist puppet image? Could the RNG do something similar? Especially since the Americans might get as annoyed at Chiang as they did with DeGaulle, the latter who was always testing...
  15. Germany divided between Weimar Republic and Nazi Reich

Ah. It's an interesting placement for a Taiwan-type situation, but that's a valid geographical justification as any. And yeah come to think of it, perhaps there would be old-style honor-bound Junkers who are unwilling to break their oaths to swear loyalty to the Wehrmacht mutineers.
  16. Germany divided between Weimar Republic and Nazi Reich

That does help because it’s more rare to see Nazi Germany divided at the onset, rather than Wehrmacht overthrows Hitler after botched Sudetenland/Anchsluss or Valkyrie succeeds scenarios. Why would the Weimar liberal rump be located in Junker paradise Prussia?
  17. Germany divided between Weimar Republic and Nazi Reich

I suppose the Nazis were too powerful and Weimar was too unpopular and 20th century Germans too easily united without outside intervention for this scenario to happen.
