  1. The Plantagenet Succession

That's pretty much it - of the monarch's available, he's the only one of a suitable rank and someone I had planned for her - I won't say who due to later events - annoyingly became unavailable, so James IV it was! I had an "Oh, for fuck sake," moment when I realised her original groom was...
  2. IJN Soryu's and USS Wasp's Durability and Usefulness

Sidenote, the USN BB's at the time of Midway were not getting faster then the ones at Pearl Harbor ever were so at best 20 knots with a gale blowing from behind and a smooth sea, or in other words, not possible to either dictate terms, or run away from danger. These so called "Standards" were...
  3. OTL Election maps resources thread

Any chance for an outline around that? It blends in a little too much into the lighter backgrounds of the board.
  4. A Difference Of Fate: A Late Roman Timeline

Well, at least Majoran went to the Imperial throne in conditions more favorable for him overall. The tensions with the Church and the rise of Ricimer are worrisome but for now with the Visigoths and the Vandals weakened the new Emperor has a lot of political capital to use. Let's see how it goes...
  5. For All Mankind (AH Tv series at Apple TV)

In OTL Torrijos died in a plane crash in 1981 and Noriega took over in 1983. ITTL Torrijos is still alive and things seem to be heating up with the US and Soviets over Panama. Perhaps Noriega will still emerge or perhaps not ? There is a good chance John Hinckley is butterflied away maybe just...
  6. The Plantagenet Succession

Maria's was a love match and yes, it may be slightly below her (I don't doubt it), but Manuel has no children and is relatively handsome and needs heirs for his two ducal titles, so Maria becomes useful. As for Catherine, the original person I had planned for her - I won't say who due to later...

Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III
    Threadmarks: Part 119, Chapter 1996

Chapter One Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-Six 28th June 1970 Pacoima, Los Angeles, California The reception was drawing to a close as the night wore on. The crowd had thinned a bit, so Ritchie and Lucia had already spent some time saying goodbyes to their guests before they left for the...
  9. What if Argentina won the falklands war?

Even today, it is pretty much universally considered “A Good War” in the British military. Very rare to hear a contrary opinion to the widely held view that “We Were Right To Go”
  10. Alternate warships of nations

Britain has captured warships from just about every Navy on Earth so it shouldn't be too difficult to find country appropriate names.

    The Plantagenet Succession

Why did Catherine go to Scotland? Not much is offered from that alliance, though then again James is the only King of a suitable rank for Catherine.
  12. The Plantagenet Succession

    Smart boi. And Earlier, too.
  13. Russian Victory in the Russo-Japanese War?

... and that were the reasons Great Britain saw a usefully ally in Japan leading to the Anglo-Japanese Alliance 2 years before the Russo-Japanese war ?

That’s true, forgot about Molly. We’ve seen her prejudge people in the past. Not the best baseline for this job.

  16. The Plantagenet Succession

@Tudorfan: Maria would most likely marry a ruler NOT Manuel. No way in the hell who Eleanor of Castile will marry a mere not ruling Duke, with already many children when she can have the best matches in Europe. Catalina also is unlikely to marry a widower with many children. Matches for Eleanor...

    The Plantagenet Succession

Yep. Vladislaus of Hungary or John Albert of Poland. Naples for either her or Catalina in a pinch.
  19. How much would it cost the modern UK to rebuild the Royal Navy to 1960s/70s levels of fleet strength?

In 1965? None. Buccaneers at that time weren't equipped for SEAD/DEAD and nobody was doing it anyway. And yes, I agree with your point, I'd just love to be able to figure out how much more destructive.

What if there was no plague in europe?

The feudal system of medieval Europe would likely survive longer as that was what pushed the Renaissance and the enlightenment. Without the loss of 1/3 to a half of their population there wouldn't be a need to innovate and so the Industrial Revolution happens somewhat later.
