A Queen Twice Over: Mary Tudor the Elder Marries Francis I of France

Ah so Marguerite and Charles' wedding starts off on the wrong foot... I'm sure they will find some happiness eventually, but if they do not, then what a pity. And I wonder who will be Henry's second wife in this.
  2. IJN Soryu's and USS Wasp's Durability and Usefulness

Both the Solomons and the New Guinea campaigns were contested among islands and land based rather than carrier based air power predominated. Japanese doctrine relying on land based reconnaissance proved insufficient for deep water operations. In theory relying on land based reconnaissance...

He forgot the old saying that "He who sups with the Devil should have a long spoon".
  4. And All Nations Shall Gather To It - A Crusades TL

They did, yes. I meant they wouldn't like losing the Crusader State to a different suzerain since they see it as their vassal and their overland connection to Egypt.
  5. WI: Ford had built the Mustang as a wagon?

:'( :'( On the bright side, it put the parts of a 429 Marquis in the wrecking yard for a rodder building a '55 Customline, so not a total loss.:openedeyewink:
  6. Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

If that happened, I think Concha would understand exactly why Kiki's family have Kat as their Royal Assassin. They kind of need one from time to time.
  7. A Thorn In The Rose: A War Of The Roses TL

Edward the hammer of the Scots tends to be seen in a negative light due to our modern standards. Even though he was starred English common law and is often called England's justinian. He also built the army capable of defeating the superior French kights and numbers. Also with your Stuart...
  8. A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

It'll be fun to play with either way. I honestly hadn't put too much thought into it. Much bigger fish to fry TL-wise, as it were.

A Queen Twice Over: Mary Tudor the Elder Marries Francis I of France

He's not ignoring it. TTL, Henry VII and Isabella and Ferdinand could only persuade the Papacy to grant them a dispensation covering a non-consummated marriage. I meant to put a note in the chapter and forgot - an error I have now rectified.

Galloway and the Plan of Union: A Saga of a British America

So, it looks as though the French Revolution has been averted, at least for the time being. That butterflies the Napoleonic Wars as well (although there'll probably be some sort of war soon, Europe had them every few decades at this point), which has huge ramifications for the politics of Europe...

WI: Ford had built the Mustang as a wagon?

Same happened with my '70 Mercury Marquis with the 330hp 429. Told the buyer, 'watch that rear end, that limited slip will launch you in ways you don't expect when you stomp the throttle' 2 months later and he put it in a ditch. What a waste.
  12. Hawker Hurricane even more prolific and versatile?

Thinking about my previous post, a pre war Sea Hurricane might have a different name if it has folding wings, increased range and a radial engine (Perseus for spares compatibility with the Skua?) giving it a different look to the land Hurricane. Now what's an appropriate name? The naming...

Anyone know how the space suit we see up close in this episode rate against OTL 1983 suits?
  14. These Fair Shores: The Commonwealth of New England

So perhaps this has been answered but what is the Privy Council and what does it do? Or just what the US government looks like in general?

Photos from Alternate Worlds II (read FAQ first)

Captain Sir Francis Crozier, FRS, FRAS, was an Irish officer of the Royal Navy and polar explorer who participated in six expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. He is best known for leading 27 survivors of the ill-fated Franklin Expedition hundreds of miles across the Canadian Arctic to the...
  16. The Forge of Weyland

"If Hitler invaded Hell," he once remarked, "I would at least make a favourable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons." He failed to follow up with a warning that making a pact with the Devil would cost you your soul (or half of Europe) ...

  18. Was WW2 still inevitable without the Nazis?

If Stalin had attacked Poland in 1938, Britain, France, and Germany would've come to Poland's aid. The Allies did nothing about the Soviet invasion of Poland because they were already at war with Germany. They just had their hands too full, to take on the Soviets at the same time. The French had...

A Queen Twice Over: Mary Tudor the Elder Marries Francis I of France

I hate to be That Person but weren't two versions of the dispensation granted - one in the case that Katherine's union with Arthur was consummated and one in the case that it was not? Or is Henry just ignoring that because he wants a son and Kate can't give it to him?
