Spain was pretty much bankrupt by the turn of the century IIRC so it's not too implausible for them to sell to the Germans (US reaction is a whole other thing though).

What if: Andrew Johnson successfully appoints Henry Stanbery to the Supreme Court?

President Andrew Johnson, successor to Abraham Lincoln, is often listed as one of America's worst or least effective presidents, many times taking second place to James Buchanan. Though Johnson had the support of the Republican Party in 1865 when he took office, it had evaporated by the end of...

  4. Without The Beatles, is there a chance that The Dave Clark 5 could had started The British Invasion?

According to Jagger or maybe it was Richards, Keith and Mic were in a London club when they spotted John and Paul walk in and Keith and Mic went over to say hello, they then started to chat and Mic asked John and Paul if they would write them a song and Paul said yeah and John added it would...

    What if communism didn’t exist

Yep. This was why Marxism had such a fetish for the urban worker that the agrarian worker largely fell by the wayside; they were too backward, too reactionary to be easy fodder. This is actually the cause of all peasant rebellions before Jan Huss, as far as I know. Funnily enough, the king...

    What if communism didn’t exist

@Sapa Inka Wiraqucha also, i disagree with your characterization of the American/British working class as reactionary. The vast majority of republicans, red-staters, Tea Party and Qanon nutjobs aren't proles, but middle-class small business owners. Their stranglehold on local elections and the...

  9. Aside from Axis or Confederate victory, what is the most common AH scenario?

Yeah I’ve read that story(& find it inconsistent with the historical Joan, though as a work of fiction it’s pretty good). Thanks anyway though Odin! (As an MCU fan I like your tag....)

Threadmarks: 1934-35 Nepalese Invasion of Tibet

The 1934-35 Nepalese Invasion of Tibet was a military conflict including the Kingdom of Nepal, Theocracy of Tibet and Republic of China. In 1934 after the death of the 13th Dalai Lama, Pandatsang Ragpa organized a revolt in Kham against Tibetan autocratic rule, and scored several victories in...

  12. Case for coastal artillery until the 1980s

They still had some military value during the Cold War. Especially the guns in Scandinavia. From what I’ve read, Norway and Sweden were planning to continue to upgrade their coastal defences. Only the end of the Cold War stopped it. I’d need to check, but I believe that Norway did continue to...
  13. Case for coastal artillery until the 1980s

There was also the torpedo batteries for coastal defense if I remember correctly KMS Blucher perished as a result of such hits in 1940 Did those die out too immediate postwar period ?

Why do u think they retained them so late ?
  15. Place In the Sun: What If Italy Joined the Central Powers?

Beautiful map! The only inaccuracies i see is the United Baltic Duchy and Lithuania. You also could probably make long Belarus longer and give Lithuania that eastern province below UBD. You could make a case about German western borders but it would be hard to simulate in VIC2 and apparently it...

Interesting scenario. How’d Cuba manage to become a German colony in the first place?
  17. Case for coastal artillery until the 1980s

Some gun based coastal defences lasted until the ‘90s in Scandinavia. Portugal and Spain had fixed defences until the late ‘90s and IIRC, still have mobile coast defence guns.

Driving in the center of the road? How is that going to work out!? Are all the roads in the little nation like one way only or something in order for that to work out? I'm just asking, I'm curious.
