  1. HMS EAGLE in the Falklands (Story Only)
Threadmarks: Battle of San Carlos Part 2

As the first Argentine pilot clears the high ground to the south of San Carlos Water, he gets his first glimpse of the enemy. For the first few seconds he is almost mesmerised by the sheer number of vessels and the activity he can see taking place in front of and below him. Luckily for him this...
  2. Gideon's Folly: What happens when the USS Monitor never shows up for the Battle of Hampton Roads?

A lot of thoughts on your post as well, FL, but not quite enough time or energy today to do them justice... But just taking this observation...it's a little hard to say, but contemplate just how far back Johnston had fallen on Richmond in the Peninsula Campaign when he was finally wounded at...
  3. What if communism didn’t exist

Fascism formed directly as a response to Communism. Mussolini himself had been a socialist brought up in a household with revolutionary leanings. There may still be some reactive ideology in those circumstances, but there's no reason to assume that its OTL fascism. National syndicalism is...

Kaiserreich DBWI: Have you read “The Depths”?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Headcanon is: America is divided by a Federalist dictatorship and a Syndicalist dictatorship. The border is the Mississippi River. The West democratizes. The East does not. The Federationists win out in the UoB. A slow reconciliation process with Canada...
  5. WI: The Enterprise completes its five year mission (Star Trek survives for 5 seasons)
    Threadmarks: Chapter 56: January 1971

Some Episode updates, and a little change in the Apollo 14 mission. I had a little writer's block and some COVID shot side effects earlier, but am feeling well enough for a short update. EPISODE 16: THE TIME TRAP: Written by Joyce Perry, directed by Jud Taylor. Air date: January 8, 1971. This...
  6. A House Divided Against Itself: An 1860 Election Timeline

I recognise Seward, Douglas, Chase, Houston, Lincoln, vallandingham, The to between Lincoln and valandingham i can't recognise, and the two on the top right i know but can't remember. Edit:ok.one of them is crittenden.
  7. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Could a shortfall in 2 pdr guns to support the infantry result in an accelerated development and deployment of the PIAT?
  8. AHC: Peerless Air Ministry

"Peerless" could also literally mean "without peers" aka having abolished the House of Lords. I think theoretically a Peerless HMG would have to just avoid all the unforced blundering of the period and work from there, rather than getting too overambitious.

A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

I'm hoping the Khan puts out a 'soft pitch Friday' for the mid/late 90s tv schedule so I can toss a few more concepts his way. Sadly I'm so out of practice with a pencil I can't translate any of my ideas to real drawings, no matter how clearly they might appear in my head.
  10. Doctor who alternate history

What if the 8th Doctor actually had a series...?
  11. Effects of the Mississippi River as an International Boundary

It's amazing just how many cities there are across the river from each other in OTL.
  12. Bering Strait Bridge Built During Detant

Shipping stuff by road/rail makes sense only if 1) ocean transport isn't available or 2) the cargo is valuable enough and time critical enough that the speed of rail over ships is worth it - but not so valuable and time critical that air freight makes sense. That's not a large window. or...
  13. AU Fiction: CFL-USA - A different telling.

I fixed it, thanks for spotting that.
  14. Count of Crisco

    Alternate warships of nations

I would have to nail that all down. But at the same time I would be very ambiguous about details like that so you could kinda decide for yourself.
  15. WI Spain does nothing to assist American independence

What's the PoD? If Saratoga and the French entry into the war still happen, I think the Americans would still be favored to win the war- although if you want to make a TL about it, it is well within the bounds of plausibility for them to lose without Spanish help. I wonder how it would change...
  16. Alternate warships of nations

Thinking about it, I'm not sure without narrowing things a bit you can really firm that up, I mean is the small country an island or part of a larger land mass, so which might get priority Army or Navy? What it's basic relationship with it's neighbours and the major powers?
  17. Denliner

A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

True, but it seems that it's not the primary part of his current persona, which is fair, since the everyman is basically what he was (besides being a soulless corporate mascot) before the recent shorts brought back more of his older characterization.
