  1. "What Madness Is This?" Volume II: Prophecies in the Dark

Moment of weakness on my part, but someone edited Aaron Burr's Wikipedia profile and it blew up on Twitter.

Aww, sorry to hear that, but real life does come first. The round will be open for about 36 hours from the time of this post, if you're able to squeak something in.

Was probably not enough of a challenge for him ("Just 15 kilometers and rather shallow to begin with? Pah!") If you think big, then think really BIG: (admittedly a repost but very relevant here)

  5. Churchill Dies Suddenly after the UK is Already Committed to Fighting On.

@Look More Closely Later Not wanting to send the fleet in june 1940 is something completely different than not wanting to send/sell weapons. France needed reinforcement urgently, otherwise it was going to collapse (and indeed did), just getting food and weapons wasn't going to cut it. The UK...

So anyway, they're all too young for marrying John III, so he'd need a proxy, but - Ana d'Albret is anyway handicapped, Margaret Douglas too young, so we'd need to search in the distant relatives of both Henry and Francois, Elizabeth Stafford would be ideal, but she's married already to Norfolk...
  12. How important was the Dunkirk evacuation ?

Actually the Germans were already crippled after the winter of 1941-42. Most divisions never got upto strength again. Losses at Barbarossa were much higher than the allied losses in the west. But they managed to launch Operation Blue nonetheless.
  13. Any good AH stories about a failed American Revolution?

Mainly short stories, see Uchronia.com list for divergences circa 1776 http://uchronia.com/bib.cgi/diverge.html?o=500 An interesting book is 'The Two Georges' by Turtledove and Dreyfuss. Two hundred years after reconciliation between American colonies and Great Britain, treasonous subversives...

    Threadmarks: Muppetational!

Chapter 14; A Lazer Show on Broadway Excerpt from Renegade Suit, the autobiography of David Lazer (with Jay O’Brian). Working for Jim Henson is a little like a nicer version of working for Vito Corleone—you’re never really “out” of the business. I’d “retired” in ’84, but by ’88 Jim and Bernie...

  16. Churchill Dies Suddenly after the UK is Already Committed to Fighting On.

Reynaud was absolutely desperate for a USA declaration of war in early June, 1940. According to Churchill ('The French Agony', The Second World War, volume 2) Reynaud cabled to Roosevelt that he needed at least the American fleet sent, as a gesture of solidarity. Roosevelt's responses over the...

Case for coastal artillery until the 1980s

So, to continue my brief post above, Finland has been one of the countries that have held on to coastal artillery until the most recent decades. Practically, since the 1990s, the Finnish system of coastal artillery bases/forts was disestablished, and the coastal artillery itself, until then a...
