How could the Roman Republic survive into the present day?

In regards of the question, beyond 100% doubtful. The Roman Republic couldn't maintain itself once it become the sole dominant entity in the Mediterranean. (And yes I know I'm only scratching the surface with my statement. It's fall is a whole new can of worms to discuss about. That's about it.)

  3. "Revolution Plowed the Sea" What if Latin America was a Great Power?

Thanks! I was beggining to think I was the only one that thought an alternate Mexico could be strong without being a Monarchy

The Sun of Rocroi TL- A better Grand Condé

It was not for pleasure that I got rid of him. I couldn't find any more information about Jenatsch and his scheming life. I had so much trouble doing my research that I couldn't give away the name of the person he married (I chose the Von Salis family for political reasons but couldn't find...

    Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Did the British army have to relearn all the lessons it had learnt during WWI? To which the answer is both yes and no, yes it had to relearn some of the skills it had had, but no the lessons were all there in standard operating procedures, it’s just that no one had had the opportunity to...
  6. Alternate warships of nations

You can actually make a reasonable sounding argument in favour of a mixed fuel boiler between the wars as a way to ensure that you actually have fuel available if your country has any coal mines of its own while still being able to pour on the oil for high speed steaming.
  7. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Well then a third tier power shouldn't have taken on the second most powerful country in the world then I guess? OTL the Italian's held long enough for the Nazi's to show up and cause trouble but their own African campaign can be best described as a complete failure. Here they won't hold...
  8. How could the Roman Republic survive into the present day?

A "suriving Rome" would have to be one that kept up with its changing situation and adapting to that new reality. Converting to Islam is almost a necessity but also unimaginable in a state where Christianity was central to the Romani identity

The Undying Empire: A Trebizond Timeline

Quick question: Does Zwickauer or Storchist sound better? Storchist is obviously easier to pronounce, but I feel Zwickauer sounds more German.
  11. Disaster at Dunkirk and German invasion of Russia in August 1940

Sorry but I don't think this is at all realistic. The immediate effect of destroying the BEF wouldn't have been a French surrender. The French had their own concerns, and when the BEF evacuated they were off the field anyway. It didn't matter to the French what happened to the men of the BEF...
  12. Hawker Hurricane even more prolific and versatile?

Back to the question of the Hurricane being more prolific you could continue production with a dedicated two seat advanced trainer version even as late as 1950 as a bridge between the much faster late war and early post war piston fighters and the much slower Harvard trainer.
  13. Pride Goes Before a Fall: A Revolutionary Greece Timeline

Now, bombing Athens would have been quite the unreasonable reaction and a kill move for Britain - all of Europe would have cried foul for such an act and even the US as well. But I can concede London might have used a proper leverage to keep contained Hellenic ambitions. Point is, Britain...

  15. Everything Has Gone Green: The Consequences of Googling Murray Bookchin

Don't worry about it, the only reason it hit me was my LC project was on the history of Irish political parties (mainly the offshoots of SF). And you;re right about the name but they were attempting to hold onto part of the stickies while appealing to the softer left.
  16. AH Timeline: The NHL-WHA merger: A different story

Sorry... must have been a math error on my part. I'll fix it but i'm not much of a math guy, so i'll try my very best to work on it. (Edit: Fixed it. The league teams now combine for a 260-260 record)
  17. Disaster at Dunkirk and German invasion of Russia in August 1940

can the Soviet mobilize and build-up in 1940 as fast as they did in 1941? if so, the Germans are screwed regardless. Despite the winter not being that tough. And LL or some form of Cash & Carry will be rapidly approved and implemented to support the USSR.
  18. Disaster at Dunkirk and German invasion of Russia in August 1940

I think the Germans suffered double the rate of casualties in Fall Rot as opposed to Fall Gelb. If Fall Gelb succeeds in capturing the Dunkirk pocket then there is no need for Fall Rot. Materially the Germans should come out in better shape if the war ends two weeks sooner.
