  1. Alternate warships of nations

Well it was set in the 1800's wasn't it? Rich people were a bit like that back then.... Heck, some still are today. And the hero always gets the girl. We all know that is the legal requirement in all films (Assuming it is a male hero of course).

The Bear and Eagle on the Nineveh Plains -- an alt-Middle East Collaborative Timeline

One way to "even the odds" might be to stipulate that the Northern Alliance controls more territories in the Heart Province than it did OTL: If Northern Alliance forces friendly to Tehran control areas of Heart that border Iran than an "Iran- Northern Alliance-Tajikistan" corridor is possible...

America Be Watching With The Popcorn: A Sino-Soviet War TL

Why do America's latest versions use hit to kill interceptors? Even the enemy ABM systems have conventional kill methods. There is a reason why non-nuclear ABM systems are the preferred ones. Exo-atmospheric EMP blasts would still spike and fry aerials. And radars to see USE aerials.

In other words, it's Spartacus: Blood and Sand fourteen years early?

How could the Roman Republic survive into the present day?

  6. AHC: Have Hawaii dump the Union Jack

Absolutely. But how would we get that to be a movement in Hawaiian politics?

For All Mankind (AH Tv series at Apple TV)

An airplane is a far cry from being on the Moon for weeks on end. Jamestown was a one-room base. The worst thing that could happen in a plane is what happened to Ed. Given how hard it looked he may be unfit to go on pathfinder or whatever that modified space shuttle was called. Given that it's...
  8. Film WI: If "Blazing Saddles" had the "original" casting

Well, what if, instead of John Wayne, we had Clint Eastwood as the Waco Kid, which in addition to spoofing the Pale Rider/Man With No Name, poked fun at Dirty Harry and Coogan, Too?

Film WI: If "Blazing Saddles" had the "original" casting

I stand corrected if wrong but I heard that Pryor have a cameo as one of the group that built the 'mock' town? It's one of those 'blink and you missed me' parts

Film WI: If "Blazing Saddles" had the "original" casting

2nded. Refer to my answer above regarding the 'Airplane' franchise I wonder if Mr Eastwood would reapprise his role as 'Dirty Harry' Callahan in this and make it a third film in the franchise and thus 'The Enforcer' becoming the fourth. Base it as always in SF . . . then move to the UK.
  11. Linguistic situation of Britain with no Saxons.

This was a very interesting read. The author’s argument seems to be that the collapse of urban society in Roman Britain was what allowed the Angles and Saxons to retain their own language and culture when they invaded, in contrast to other places like France where they adopted “the ways of the...

    The Children of Camelot

Well this is certainly an interesting wrinkle in the "posthumous child of Arthur and Catherine" trope.

Film WI: If "Blazing Saddles" had the "original" casting

He'd been great as Taggart. Look at how many 'straight' actors sent themselves up in the 'Airplane' franchise. In fact it's those actors that mostly play their roles straight that do comedy the best.

Threadmarks: Underdogs: Saint-Kitts at the 2016-17 World League

It was with joy that the inhabitants of Saint Kitts and Nevis, a small island in the Antilles, welcomed the surprising news that came in August of 2016. Indeed, their national team would become the second antillian nation after Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the Nations League. The small...
  16. Churchill Dies Suddenly after the UK is Already Committed to Fighting On.

I think you have to analyze the situation from three prospectives. Who would take over as Prime Minister? Would there be a peace of some sort reached with Hitler? Who and how would the US relationship be managed?
  17. ECM /recon version of mig23

ELINT tends to be a little less in your face than SEAD. The Russians used various aircraft for ELINT including various variants of TU16, AN26 etc, though they used Mi 8 as comm jammer aircraft.

  19. TL-191: After the End

In 2021, the Republicans and Socialists have an uneasy working majority in both houses of Congress, under the Novak-Wakefield Socialist/Republican “fusion” administration. But it’s a doomed Congressional working relationship. There are many Republican and Socialist politicians who dislike the...

An Age of Miracles Continues: The Empire of Rhomania

Yeah, that's probably how I would describe Odysseus's reign as of now from all of the existing posts and spoilers. It could change though 🤔 Weird candy commercials? Given how militant the Romans are, I can only really imagine a modern Roman chocolate commercial to be a weird fusion between a...
