  1. What are some likely convergences?

United British Isles is highly likely in most timelines, due to a series of concentric circles of power. SE England and the Midlands have no effective borders whatsoever, so are almost inevitably united. Due to its fertility, that power can easily take take the Westcountry and Wales (only small...

I mean she's an ethnic albanian after all, and even lived in Kosovo for a while, with both her parents being Albano-Kosovar

How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

...or they just use their slaves in the new industries.
  4. How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

Well, the Confederate Constitution makes it impossible for the CSA government to abolish slavery without an amendment so it would initially have to be done state by state. North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia were already starting to industrialize by the 1860s OTL so I expect that trend to...

Man-Made Hell: The History of the Great War and Beyond

Hello everyone! I want to apologize for the long wait for the latest update, as I know it's definitely been awhile. I decided to wrap up all of Phase Two in this update, and suffice to say that means the next update is very lengthy. Hopefully Chapter XI will be well worth the wait, but in the...

Byzantines reconquer southern Italy and Rome by 1100, how does Christendom develop from there?

Yeah that's the problem with any sort of autocracy. A spectacularly bad leader is bound to come along at some point. That the Empire lasted as long as it did is pretty incredible, but to make it last in the longer term will require a refined succession to limit civil wars and a degree of power...

How important was the Dunkirk evacuation ?

The end of German conscription as per the Treaty of Versailles crippled Germany's ability to fight a prolonged war of attrition. The low proportion of well-trained reserves in the optimal fighting age group hamstrung Nazi Germany's ability to replace losses with troops who were up to par with...

A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

But not as a rate NC 17 film, maybe a soft R and more likely T (PG13). Like I said before it will most likely be similar to Kill the Conqueror in level of violence.
  9. Case for coastal artillery until the 1980s

FWIW I found something else while I was looking for my notes about the 9.2" gun at the IWM Duxford. That is notes that I'd made from National Archives file WO.32/13363 - Organisation of Coast Regiments: Royal Artillery - Future Tasks and Scales of Planning. The tasks of coast artillery were...

Hawker Hurricane even more prolific and versatile?

not too many. The postwar blocks didn't have the core shifting issues of the prewar, and the later blocks that used shell bearing over cast babbitt. the desire for hot rodding led to the adoption of the Olds and Caddy OHV motors, leaving the very strong flatheads as yesterdays news.

I was also going to suggest that masterpiece!
  12. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Hard to balance the choices here..... As you get a specific model heading towards obsolescence in the primary theatre, do you immediately re-build all to a supplentary role for that primary theatre (such as self-propelled artillery), or take the entire inventory of the model and shift them as a...
  13. Keynes' Cruisers Volume 2

The SAS were doing this in from June 3 1944 IOTL, so looks like D Day may be kicking off a month earlier. This may be a result of improved logistics and earlier resolution of the Battle of the Atlantic. https://www.dday-overlord.com/en/battle-of-normandy/resistance/sas

Looking for a good Carlos V Timeline (Closed)

Have you tried to search by the English version of his name, i.e. Charles instead of Carlos? Anyway, with the exception of this TL, I don't remember any more TLs that would be only focused on Carlos/Charles V of the HRE and I of Spain.
  16. What are some likely convergences?

I am actually very skeptical of the Idea of Natural borders.

    Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

The spares vs tanks issue is one the Germans had in spades Its fine if you are able to pick when you are fighting and have loads of time between battles However its a different matter when the action is happening think and fast or you are haveing to conduct a retreat Having 120 tanks on day 1...
  18. Linguistic situation of Britain with no Saxons.

I found another update to this thread Peter schrijver suggest Latin was already the majority tongue in the British lowlands.
  19. Hawker Hurricane even more prolific and versatile?

I was thinking of just using existing tooling and churning out these for advanced training. Do the gunnery and ground attack training on these before moving onto the O.C.U's for conversion to frontline types.

How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

Not before 1900 at absolute minimum unless they are forced to abolish it at gunpoint. Which honestly I just don't see. And I don't think 1900 is likely at all. More likely it will happen either in the 1910-20s, or never. If the latter the system will steadily see the CSA sink to the level of...
