Romanov Ascendant: What if the Soviet Union survived?

You mean Tanzania? I think that would generally be addressed by this, or addressed better than previously before. In the largest factories you're going to have computer monitoring, you would have to directly corrupt the computer reporting staff. Of course the latter is going to be start to...

    Scandinavian alliance 1939

They can inflict huge damage and it's possible to take Leningrad and perhaps large parts of the USSR but the whole USSR? No way in hell. If the Germans couldn't do it, nor can the Scandinavians. Even Sweden during the Great Northern War never took all of Russia.

The Undying Empire: A Trebizond Timeline

The little snippet from yesterday stirred my imagination some. Would y'all like short narrative segments--more appendixes than actual chapters, really--to be thrown in to spice up the story? I'm always going to keep the primary updates book-style, but I think that narrative additions could be...

  13. How would a hypothetical Socialist USA look back on it's past history?

Yes, that's accurate, its taken from Lenin's Letter to American Workers. Bourgeois revolutions were seen as historically necessary for the development of proletarian revolution and Lenin saw national liberation struggles as generally a good thing. The full quote is here. "The history of modern...

PC: Where Would the Capital of a Hohenstaufen United HRE Be?

A lot depends how it's unified and whether the Hohenstaufen emperors make changes to the coronation. Swabia was their powerbase but the Emperor was crowned at Aachen

  18. Byzantines reconquer southern Italy and Rome by 1100, how does Christendom develop from there?

The normans were only around for a few generations and had plenty of trouble with keeping control, losing plenty of land to invasions and rebellions. Though sicily would be much, much easier to control and keep than rome would be in this scenario.
  19. Map of the Fortnight: Main Discussion Thread

@Kaiphranos Would control that is temporary or short-lived count? Like the map shows the height of real, honest control but the writing is on the wall? Is that allowed?
