  1. Keynes' Cruisers Volume 2

Same names --- but landings only at Sword, Juno, Omaha and Utah. The Brits have Sword, Canadians have Juno, and the Americans were assigned Omaha and Utah.
  2. The Forge of Weyland

Yes but only indirectly 😧 I'm sure we can find a large target in Holland or the Rhineland that is sufficiently (10 miles) away from the Allied lines
  3. The Forge of Weyland

Probably would have decent results if you ordered them to support the Luftwaffe!
  4. The Forge of Weyland

They'd be operating in daylight with fighter cover so things should be better.
  5. In a freak coincidence, both Stalin and Hitler die during the beginning of Operation Barbarossa

Think would be a compromise peace that autumn. Then Goering probably not declaring war on America. Peace with Britain possible leaving allies to concentrate on Japan?
  6. A series of assumptions: a Britwank on a budget?

"The establishment was pushing RR to develop new engines, a Wankel derivative to about 1974 (though work seems to have been all but stopped by 1972) and then the CV12 family. The CV8 came first and was a "private" venture whereas the CV12 was built in a government funded factory. CV12 was just a...
  7. The Forge of Weyland

Given the current accuracy of Bomber Command, are you sure you want them supporting the Army??
  8. WI: Syria and Lebanon never separated?

Well nothing will change much during the 1948 war as Lebanon in OTL also was fighting Israel.
  9. Ring the Bell: An Alternate MLB History
    Threadmarks: Chapter 23: 1997 LDS

1997 NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES ATLANTA BRAVES VS CINCINNATI REDS Turner Field was rocking at the start of game 1 for their Braves. Why wasn't Runic script adopted more widely

That's true as well. By that time though, I'd imagine the old scripts had taken on more of a decorative function, and any "practical" function had gone by the wayside... Incidentally, speaking of decorative aspects... I have a friend who's Hungarian who has some long phrase in old Hungarian...
  14. In the absence of George Washington who becomes the first US President?

The New Jersey Plan referred to an "E xecutive of persons" while the Virginia Plan merely ntioned an "Executive" w/o specifyinng whether this would be one person or several But once it became clear that /Washington was available, interest in a plural one quickly faded.
  15. WI: JFK picks Walter Reuther to be his running mate

Reuther would have lost JFK the election. Could any union leader in American history have been a viable Presidential candidate?
  16. Xenophonte

Byzantines reconquer southern Italy and Rome by 1100, how does Christendom develop from there?

These are very good points and I should have had be more precise cause all of the South of Italy could be a bit too much and probably it would be more of a linguistic plurality situation rather than to become an only Greek speaking region, in exclusion of the Latin/ Romance dialect speakers...
  17. AHQ: Best strategy for Persians at Thermopylae

What would be best strategy for the Persian army to defeat the Greeks as fast as possible? Frontal infantry charges did not work that well. Maybe the Persians had some kind of mobile siege artillery that could be used with better effect on tight Greek formations?
  18. Air and Space Photos from Alternate Worlds.

It's been a while since I last did an update from Boldly Going by @TimothyC and @e of pi. The past few posts have seen the introduction of Liquid Rocket Boosters for the Space Shuttle, also used on the heavy Shuttle-C.
