  1. Is it possible to avoid the catastrophic economic and demographic fallout from the USSR collapse

No, Russians didn't sell their shares because they wanted some booze. They "selled" them so they didn't starve to death (and in some times to avoid getting your home destroyed and your family killed).
  2. The Empire Parnell Built

    Jeez, is Italy that fucked?
  3. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

They could, but I think they'd be more useful given to the Greeks who are already operating captured Italian tanks. IIRC the Greeks, who had no tanks before Italy attacked formed an armoured regiment with tanks they captured.

In the absence of Islam, which religion becomes the primary competitor to Christianity?

I think your making the mistake of confusing Liturgical Rites with completely separate churches. Separate rites being give autonomy within their regions is far more likely than a completely separate branches of Christianity springing up out of nowhere.
  5. And All Nations Shall Gather To It - A Crusades TL

    Whats going on with Saladin?
  6. German completely adopts the defensive September 1942

Nice use of the map from the Battlefield TV show. Sure don't make them like that anymore.

that and that. Also, check out this I made when this was in development, which I referred to a few posts ago:

WI: Edward V married to French princess

I guess but if Margaret’s not in the succession what’s the harm? Though a De la Pole also works nicely.
  9. In the absence of Islam, which religion becomes the primary competitor to Christianity?

I would say, my vision for the situation in this kind of TL around 1.000 AD would be: - Zoroastrianism would have probably receded to remote areas of the Iranian plateau, while the rest of Persia and Mesopotamia have embraced Miaphysite Christianism. - Arabia would be also overwhelmingly...
  10. WI: Edward V married to French princess

Too dangerous. One of the daughters of Suffolk is low enough in the line of succession to be safe, highly suitable, without any great dowry and with little to none chance of inheritping something of substantial. That attainder stripped George of everything, including his rights to the Crown...

    The Children of Camelot

Oh I see. Thanks for the clarity! I had no idea the way these titles worked would be so confusing!
  12. AHC: State (or independent country!) consisting entirely of counties adjacent to the Mississippi

Perhaps in an East-West split of the United States, this area becomes a buffer state?
  13. WI no Deluge in Poland

How about Moscow uprising going worse for the tsar, Alexy dies in some accident and Russia becomes busy with herself? Who would even take the throne if Alexy died at this time?

WI: Edward V married to French princess

I thought Edward IV excluded Clarence’s children from the succession? I know it excluded Warwick but I thought Margaret was also left out? Besides she’s pretty far back in the line of succession so there’s not much risk of Henry trying anything.
  15. In the absence of Islam, which religion becomes the primary competitor to Christianity?

This is incorrect Eastern Arabia was christian here are my sources. Houtsma, Martijn Theodoor, ed. (1993), E.J. Brill's First Encyclopaedia of Islam, 1913-1936, Volume Smart, J. R. (1996), Tradition and Modernity in Arabic Language and Literature, Psychology Press, ISBN 978-0-7007-0411-8...
  16. Alternate Wikipedia Infoboxes VI (Do Not Post Current Politics or Political Figures Here)

You're probably right, but I figure that if Dirksen sees which way the wind is blowing he'll stay mute on civil rights and allow Goldwater to do the campaigning in the South.
  17. How accurate is the description of the Naval War in the Atlantic in Tom Clancy's "Red Storm Rising"?

David Miller has something of an observation about this: -The Cold War: A Military History, Page 542-543. Now Clancy largely ignores these issues in Red Storm Rising from ever even being mentioned, but as freivolk pointed out it is perfectly concievable that the rather hard proof of Spetsnatz...

WI: Edward V married to French princess

Ok but I'm pretty sure that Clarence's attainder didn't specifically bare his children from inheriting. I've always thought that Henry might be married to a Herbert or a de la Pole...someone loyal to the Yorkists but not high enough that they would potentially claim the throne.
  19. Margareta domina II: A Margaret of Austria Re-do

A native Breton might not be a bad call either, perhaps butterfly in a Brosse heiress for him, they had significant holdings in Brittany IIRC, and are alternative claimants to the Duchy. Ties up loose ends and all that.
  20. What if Russia invested more heavily into American colonization?

That’s easy: they were on the important trade and fishing routes, first Novgorodian and then Tsardom’s. The North Dvina River provided convenient communication. They could get corn both from in-land Russia (Novgorod, Tsardom) and from Norway. “The population of Pomor'e districts was engaged in...
