  1. WI: Warsaw Pact armies if USSR liberalizes

Not likely, there were mass protests around every decade since Russia took over their countries that needed force or the threat of force to put down. If Russians were well loved you wouldn't have had mass protests against Russian rule every decade or so.
  2. WI: Woodrow Wilson Dies in 1919

Why?All it proves is that Wilson was an insufferable snob. Marshall's only "fault" was not having been at an Ivy League college. Had Harry S Truman been in politcs at that time, Wilson would probably have been equally disparaging about *him*

Another Alternate Cold War map! (How original). The premise is that Western Europe drifts left while America and its allies drift Right.
  4. Goeben Atlantic breakout

But the simmering belligerency between the Ottoman empire and the Entente only turned into a shooting war when Goeben started bombarding Russia. I think you have to assume there will be a delay.

This map was made with Inkscape. It's one of the few inkscape maps I'm actually proud of. The scenario is not exactly the best tho.

No G harder then Kenny G

Also: if he's at Death Row helping his fellow artists make sustainable life choices, does that mean Arista Records turns thuggish, with vendettas and assassinations and Whitney Houston putting out diss tracks?
  7. The Reform Party: 20 Years of History

I think Jean Charest (who is easily one of the best politicians ever to work in any parliamentary system in history, hands down) is a more likely PC leader in Canada than Kim Campbell for them to keep their plurality/majority. Also, it would be so awesome if Britain was ruled by the SDP-Liberal...
  8. Goeben Atlantic breakout

I don't think anyone really thinks von Spee's decision to make a break for it was unreasonable. But I think in the context of alternate history the decision to go on the attack is plausible, especially because one thing he did IOTL is charge into a harbor (Apia Samoa) where he expected to find a...
  9. AHC: Defend the Falklands

I believe that the runway was too short to operate fast jets reliably and safely. And I think they only had 17 Mirage IIIC of the 8th Air Brigade in total and this aircraft represented their primary Air Defence fighter (alongside the 30 or so Daggers) so had to be retained to also defend...
  10. Soviet low level air defense missiles: too little too late ?

The missiles will force them to fly low, at which point if can predict where they are going to be, you can lay down "kill boxes" of AA. At the very least by forcing them to fly low you will reduce their range and increase the chance of accidents.

    Threadmarks: Multipolar World (Unfinished)

I never finished this one. I think all I had left to do was finish the key, but for some reason I never did. The idea was to make a world with multiple blocs of influence, those being the British, Italian, American, French, Soviet and Japanese. I'm happy with how the map looks tho, so I'm...
  12. The Stomach of Man Under Socialism: A Culinary History of Socialist America

Some kind of Potato Blight or grasshopper invasion? You know what works well for a modern industrial Socialist America that believes in knowledge of its scientists? A new chemical fertiliser that is mixed so well and yet so badly it turns out to be a slow acting crop killer.
  13. Is it possible to avoid the catastrophic economic and demographic fallout from the USSR collapse

Why in the hell would you want the state to control 20% not talking 49% of the companies after 20 years? Why even bother at that point as things would be little different after 20 years? A maximum of 20% is more reasonable after 20 years.

In the absence of Islam, which religion becomes the primary competitor to Christianity?

Christian scripts called Hinduism and Buddhism pagan. By definitions used by the papacy until the 1700s Hinduism and Buddhism were classified as pagan and are still in many places are considered pagan. The same is true with Confucianism and Taoism. However anyways the fact of the matter is that...
  15. How accurate is the description of the Naval War in the Atlantic in Tom Clancy's "Red Storm Rising"?

A claim which is contradicted by the simple historical fact that such spoofing has been done without the US noticing as pointed out in this very thread. What are you talking about? The Cuban missile batteries were not discovered by satellites and part of the reason they were discovered so...

Remember the Texas! The United States in World War II (an alternate history)

Does having Mac in China simplify that effort? There wouldn't be the same battle of two bull egos over the turf war. Kruger would push for what he'd see as the logical path from the Army perspective, but based on the developing battlefront; more so than his self-promoting vision of strategy...
  17. No G harder then Kenny G

I am a bit confused on this, is Suge dead or not? I know Kenny G is doing amazing things at deathrow records, but raising the dead seems a bit much even for him.

A Hippie in the House of Mouse (Jim Henson at Disney, 1980)

Off the top of my head, have someone trip and fall off the stage and suffer some serious head trauma, live on camera in front of a watching nation. That ends the 'performance' instantly, and maybe the whole event, but if whoever's running the Oscars tries some 'show must go on' after someone...

  20. WI: Alexander the Great lives to 75?

All true, but the Successors were competing against their peers, and as SlyDessertFox notes, Alexander's family was not killed immediately; this was a gradual process of radicalization and burgeoning ambitions that led there. Alexander is in a different category, as he is the rightful king, and...
