    Keynes' Cruisers Volume 2

...the Southern landings open up quickly, do you push more resource in that direction to put more pressure on the Germans? OTL, they did well, once the breakout started. * Basically, IF Marseilles or Toulon are taken with minimal damage to the port facilities, you've got a decisive advantage...
  2. Goeben Atlantic breakout

I dispute the assertion that Goeben didn’t have the range to sail to the Atlantic. She sailed halfway there from Messina to bombard Algeria, and then turned around and successfully steamed back (at high coal consumption rate maximum speed for significant portions of the voyage). She had the...

Soviet low level air defense missiles: too little too late ?

Rolling Thunder used mostly B-52D, that had an obsolete ECM package compared to what did the missions for Linebacker II, that had more 'G' versions that had lower loss rates
  4. Keynes' Cruisers Volume 2

One thing to note is that the Mulberries have a longer period of good enough weather so Mulberry A may be better anchored and survive the June storms which makes the logistics a bit easier.

Soviet low level air defense missiles: too little too late ?

15kt at 50,000 feet wouldn't have much, if any, effect on the ground. If that nuke takes out a B-52 carrying two mk-53 9MT City Killers, it more than pays for those effects. SOP for conventional warhead versions was to bang off 3 or 4 at a target During Linebacker II, the SA-2 with conventional...
  6. AHC: Defend the Falklands

So how would the Cubans do if what is mentioned in the link i posted and what responds would the United States be.
  7. Goeben Atlantic breakout

well you could craft a PoD where the she engages French Troop transports, then is attacked by British ships, prior to the declaration of war. This might be a PR win, and of course it's not outside the realm of possibility that the illegal orders gets Churchill and the war faction in deep trouble...
  8. Goeben Atlantic breakout

That was also a option, would she be of use, like being more active that the Austria-Hungarian navy while being in the Adriatic Sea.
  9. Are there any good Alternate History Games on Steam?

Technically, yes, but only the lettering, not the intention behind it See my explanation here: From what it looks like, it seems that while the setting of Iron Harvest vaguely resembles WW1, there's a lot of genuinely interesting worldbuilding that went into it as well as the ASB giant mechs
  10. Goeben Atlantic breakout

Pretty much yes or get bottled up in Austria?
  11. Never Stay More Than Three Years: Another Dr Who TL

1974-1977 Graham Chapman If The Third Doctor was an obstruction than the fourth was an oddity. His bearing was one of a slightly offworldly aristocrat. His first outfit was of a dress suit and top hat but that quickly changed to a Sherlockian-style deerstalker. He had a split personality of...
  12. AHC: Defend the Falklands

I am nothing even resembling a civil engineer, but I think bulldozers, excavators etc are more the thing than unskilled labour. Fixing that runway up to allow basing on the islands does seem a very obvious move. If waiting until the Brits have cut their naval assets is out, I wonder what would...
  13. How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

Again, I don't think Texas would actually secede but it's not an uncommon trope from what I've seen with CSA wins timelines.
  14. Keynes' Cruisers Volume 2

Saint Tropez It also depend on how Allied logistics plays out. OTL, they had a month build up before breaking out off Normandy (with notably Cherbourg getting back online). That and the landings in Provence meant they had enough logistics for 600 to 800 km before stoping. ITTL, it's more...
  15. Remember the Texas! The United States in World War II (an alternate history)

Wait why is Mac being sent to China anyway. In OTL, I believe a few of the reasons no major US forces were deployed to China were to due to the corruption in the regime, the difficulty in getting them there, and fact that island hopping was considered a better way to eventually take the war to...
  16. AHC: Defend the Falklands

...the years is that he received help from other South American Nations and Israel - but none of it arrived in time and hopefully the cheques bounced* That's me being polite *There is a story that the British recovered several Mercedes 4 x 4s in the Falklands and impressed with them put...
  17. How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

Please give me one example of such a thing occurring anywhere in the world
  18. How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

If they get greedy and not want to share it with the rest of the country when they discover it. I personally don't think they would secede because of that but I've seen quite a few people suggest they could.
  19. Goeben Atlantic breakout

Thanks for the reply, so the only good option was what Goeben did in OTL.
