  1. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

Yes. Different mindset of Germans compared to British. For the Germans the sea is a barrier. For the British it's a way out.
  2. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

That would cut off American aluminum imports to Germany. American companies were exporting lots of aluminum to Germany through Spain that would greatly affect the Germans ability to fight an aerial war of attrition
  3. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

The logistics in NA pose a serious problem for the axis. The closer they get to El Alamein, the more they are at a disadvantage. It's a long way from Benghazi and Tripoli, and literally everything has to be brought to the front by truck. Which means you need loads of fuel (which has to be brouht...
  4. Goeben Atlantic breakout

Well a British merchant getting hit is OTL, the Admiralty and the cabinet just didn’t hear about it until later.

  6. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

No he can't. The 10th and 5th Armies had very, very limited mechanization; it amounted to the division-strength Maletti Group and a single armored brigade, with the remaining nine divisions being foot-mobile. Against this the British have a proper armored division, an armored division that even...

This was a map of an alternate Scramble For Africa with a Cairo to Cape Colony that I made when I first got into mapping, redone onto a larger image and a template on this thread, I'm pretty sure I just read a few books about Africa and made this. Answers to questions may be limited as even I'm...
  8. Make Afghanistan Prosperous

To add to my first post, it is my belief a non Pashtun regime is impossible, or even any strong weakening of Pashtun's power. Let me throw some history into the mix. Habibullah Kalakani/Son of Water Carryer only lasted six months. He was the only Tajik to have become King of Afghanistan...

    13. The Battle of Talavera (July, 1809) and its aftermath. After Marshal Soult had retreated from Portugal, General Wellesley advanced with 20,000 British troops into Spain to join 35,000 Spanish troops under Prince Gabriel. They met at Miravete to discuss the strategy to follow. In Gabriel's...
  10. How long would it take for the Confederates to abolish slavery if they won the civil war?

Socialist revolutions were in Vogue in the early 1900s lightning dictatorships didn't become in Vogue until the 1930s. If the Confederacy managed to lose a war badly between 1865 and 1900 through the possibility for a right wing dictatorship to take over But I think the decline of southern...
  11. AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

Agreed, commuter rails for metro areas make much more sense than interstate passenger rail.
  12. In the absence of Islam, which religion becomes the primary competitor to Christianity?

One thing I never got clear, were the Jews in pre-Islamic Arabia from outside, as in Europe, or were there large numbers of Judaized Arabs?
  13. Soviet low level air defense missiles: too little too late ?

But SA2 has taken out fighter sized targets too esp in an environment where strategic bombers are getting extinct Presumably sa5 can be used against ordnance laden strike aircraft too ? As they would be less likely to do evasive actions

  15. The Last Hanover: The Life and Reign of Queen Charlotte

I wasn’t disputing whether or not it would have been plausible or even probable. I was just saying that Henri V wouldn’t have been making that decision, his mother would have been calling the shots. You probably have more knowledge on the subject than I do. My only point was that at 10 he is a...

    WIP Map Thread

Something I've been planning on working on for a while, basically the premise is that the Song industrializes between the late 900s and the early 1100s, resulting in the world literally changing forever. The map in place is roughly at the 1400-1600s, I would REALLY appreciate input on where I...

  18. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

Against what? The best the Italians had was the M11/39 and that was outclassed by even an A9 or A10. It could beat Mk VI lights but the less said about Italy's main tank (CV-35) the better.
  19. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

The halt order had little impact on the fighting in the Dunkirk pocket and was in any case issued because the Panzer divisions need to reorganize, resupply and regroup after two weeks of constant offensive operations. You also have to factor in that the Germans are less concerned about a pocket...
