  1. Alternate History: Explain the historical event

Referring to the economic programme to rebuild the Aztec city of Ixtapaluca by Montezuma VI "the Architect" after the Great Ixtapaluca Fire in 1776. The city would be rebuilt over 20 years and cost almost 250 million dollars in today's money. However, Ixtapaluca today is the most beautiful city...
  2. WI Monica Lewinsky brought her blue cocktail dress (with that sperm stain) to the cleaner's instead of deliberately avoiding it?

I remember having read something that Monica Lewinsky's lawyer or whoever she listened to strongly advised her not to take that dress to the cleaner's when the Lewinsky affair became a thing in the beginning of 1998. It's the one thing she's been regretting her entire life. So I ask you what if...
  3. Keeping the British Liberal Party flag flying high

Among the persons President elect Hoff appointed to his cabinet were Eugene McCarthy as Secretary of State, and Bella Abzug as Attorney-General. McCarthy was a Social Democrat Senator from Minnesota and the ranking Social Democrat member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee...

    Photos from Kentucky Fried Politics

[pic: imgur.com/xP0CGDU.png ] – Former Governor Colonel Sanders, typically ebullient, appears unhappy on the floor of the NYSE, not even cracking a smile at some joke told by other KFC investors celebrating the latest numbers for their company’s stock, c. autumn 1963; The Colonel believed that...

The son of Anne of Brittany and Charles 8th lives?

NVM, Lizzie died first. The Italian Wars, won't happen when they did in otl. If my brain can math correctly Charles won't become of age until 1508, so now wars can start prior to that.
  6. WI: Warsaw Pact armies if USSR liberalizes

Well, now your just beeing ridiculous. It is quite universally acknowleged that the USSR heavily subsidized it's Warsaw Pact allies. Soviet oil exports to the Eastern European countries were routinely conducted below the world market price. Furthermore, COMECON just wasn't under 'Moscow's...

Stupid Luck and Happenstance, Thread III

This technology is about 10 years ahead of OTL.
  8. Keep the Essex class as a strike carrier

The Tomcat, or more accurately its range and AWG-9/Phoenix fire control complex, was considered absolutely vital for those big-deck carriers to survive in a hot war. Something like it had been in the works since the late 1950s, it would still happen, especially with more big decks coming online...
  9. The son of Anne of Brittany and Charles 8th lives?

In that case we already have a bride! As for European politics, what would occur with the balance of power and Wars (e.g Italian wars)? Since a 6 year old would be King of France and Duke of Brittany (upon the death of his mother).
  10. For a Gore Prosperous Tomorrow

Not sure on that. I don't know who would buy it and I wouldn't wanna deal with many people telling me how wrong I am XD

The son of Anne of Brittany and Charles 8th lives?

I think they were betrothed in otl. IIRC Orlando died first so butterflies could cause Lizzie Tudor live.
  12. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

True. But there's also the psychological effect, on both Britain and on Germany, and on their allies, immediate and potential. I believe that is more important. 1. Germany us now undisputed master of the European mainland. They've won success after success. 2. Britain not only is weak, but looks...
  13. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

It's not just a faster Compass, but that the British are very likely to hold, so the capture of Tripoli has been moved forward by a year or more over OTL. Plus, retaining Crete makes the Eastern Mediterranean a lot more secure for British shipping.
  14. A New Britain - A British Political TL (1995-)

But that's the key thing, the new labour years were a success but the Blair/brown disputes had prevented more things. So i have taken that out what I did was that Brown had stood in the 94 leadership election and lost by 52-48. But with that aside Blair made him the most powerful chancellor.
  15. AHC: Cold War between Religious Communism and Atheist Capitalism

You can be a Communist and a Christian: Communism isn't Christ's kingdom on earth or a utopia, but thought of as a new stage of human society. Marxism really is keen on stressing that it is not utopian but tries to be scientific.
  16. The son of Anne of Brittany and Charles 8th lives?

I suppose that with Anne as his regent, she would influence him greatly on how he would govern, etc. As for a bride, I would have to love to see a surviving Elizabeth Tudor, who would have been the second eldest daughter of Henry 7th and born in the same year as Charles
  17. AHC: Cold War between Religious Communism and Atheist Capitalism

Ah yeah, sorta like how the US adopted religious mottos in response to Soviet state atheism.
  18. The New Order: Last Days of Europe - An Axis Victory Cold War Mod for HoIIV

Let me read this because I dont think this is a good protrayal of West African geo-politics.......
  19. AHC: Cold War between Religious Communism and Atheist Capitalism

It depends on what other ideologies it is channelling. It could also be a reaction - "we must be the opposite of the enemy".

Why are the western allies bombing civilians?

I made a thread about this forum for people to tell family memories of WWII, turns out someone said that that allied bombs were so inaccurate that you would be safer on the city cemetery with the German AA guns than on the city.
