  1. As Dreamers Do: American Magic Redux

For instance, one of the newer episodes is an indirect commentary Iacocca calling on Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall.
  2. Claudius if Germanicus becomes Emperor?

Caligula wouldn't be the heir; if Germanicus is alive then his family would be protected from Tiberius' persecution of them, so Germanicus' sons Nero Julius and Drusus Julius would be alive and likely be co-heirs. This divergence could also mean both Sejanus and Drusus the Younger, son of...
  3. AHC: Save a notorious flop

Solo certainly was and SW films went straight down in attendance. The Rise of Skywalker made little, if any, money after all the costs are added in.
  4. Claudius if Germanicus becomes Emperor?

Auctually Caligula would not be hier, at least not first choice. Most likely that unless Tiberius imposed an hier on him like Augustus, Germanicus's hier would probably be one of his older sons, Drusus or Nero. As for Claudius, his brother seemed to have been more partial to him than anyone...
  5. AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

This I agree with and you need to add Metro service to that. It does little good to get to downtown A by HSR or even regular passenger rail and you either have to rent a car there or wait 45 minutes for the next bus. Might as well go by car then.
  6. As Dreamers Do: American Magic Redux

So, it's a mix of both? In that case, what kind of new material is produced for this run of Rocky?

    AHC: Save a notorious flop

the latter SW films were not flops, just not very good. None of the latter Trilogy was much good. For a Flop, look to _Heavens Gate_, that was bad enough to finish off United Artists, as MtR had in the Post. But in saving that one, might prolong Hollywood's infatuation with Auteurs leading to...

With a PoD starting from 350 AD, make a revival of Egyptian Paganism Possible

Is this even really a reliable source of information? This is pretty much ASB as Christianity was already well on its way towards spreading throughout the Empire. In Greece there's some evidence that paganism was practiced in some rural enclaves (in the deep mountains) up until the 8th...
  9. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

@CalBear So, just a minor point of interest. In ANNW a partisan group called the "Russian Patriotic Front" is mentioned. Could you delve in a bit more info on these folks? Were they the ones who backed the Tsarist restoration?
  10. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

By the end of the Extended Timeline, it's a US state. It isn't going back. At the end of the main timeline, it's already been under US rule for... about ten years, I believe? I think it's still unlikely to reunify. It's possible if whatever power holds Siberia is decently well off and...

    AHC: Longest possible airship age

Well it would be fairly hard to hit a target by spraying it with rapid fire weapons from a great distance while high in the air but the shock value of an airship is tremendous. Any aircraft is. In the case of the Zulu war, where the other side is armed only with a limited number of rifles...
  12. Demography of British America

Population would almost certainly be smaller, and much more unevenly spread. The only way to make B.N.A. survive is to split it up as much as possible. New York might retain really lax immigration laws in contrast to other colonies. And yeah, they'll be much less likely to take on Catholic...

    The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

There is any chance of any russian state to get the far East back? Maybe if the tsarists annex the USSR?

What would the Americas be like if the Chinese colonized it?

Either way, I want to create a brief timeline of native American civilizations and what happened when. This would affect who the Chinese would be dealing with, what effects they have on each other, and how political institutions develop. With that, I leave this link of a map some well-meaning...
  15. AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

This (and also the guy a few pages back who spoke about improving infrastructure, another great comment that got lost in all the back-and-forth). HSR gets the sexy headlines, but it's important to remember that those European HSR systems didn't occur in a vacuum. They were basically...
  16. AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

I think it depends very much on the family, and on the pleasure trip. When I lived in Japan I frequently saw families on trains during holidays - some were going to Osaka to see the aquarium, others were heading to the family home for the Bon festival, and so on. What made it practical, I think...
  17. Dunkirk disaster and Spain declares war on Britain.

Stalin had no interest in provoking a war with the Allies, when he thought at some point Hitler would attack him. In 1940 the Japanese were too heavily engaged in China. In 1940 they had no army reserves for invading the Colonial Empires. The time just wasn't right, and nothing that happened at...
  18. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

Probably the best solution to the question. Though, I'm surprised that the Americans and British went to so much bother to get his family out? Was it out of a belated sense of obligation to the USSR?
  19. If Britain/France vs Germany/Italy goes on for many years, what moves do the Soviets make?

If GB/France stop Germany's advance it is difficult to see how it will go on that long. Without the loot from France and later the USSR , Germany's economy is in serious trouble in 1941, particularly since the US is still going to cut off trade with Germany while selling freely to Britain and...
  20. As Dreamers Do: American Magic Redux
