  1. Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

If a Kaiserreich TV series is ever made, Huey Long would certainly be sympathetic fan favorite.
  2. Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

Those are some good answers, and I guess that make sense. The Entente isn't as powerful as the were before the Weltkrieg, but they wouldn't be pushovers. I highly doubt they would ever want to trade with the Syndicalists, but I can see them doing some business with the non-German nations of...
  3. Have Blake's 7 be even more successful and mainstream like Star Trek

It was a long time ago, and watching it was a hit-or-miss proposition for me then, so much of my memory is fuzzy. But, I recall that I liked the hell out of it and missed it when it was gone, and still think of the show now and again. So, thanks for this thread...

AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

Whereas if it's started much earlier, the federal government will have to get involved (probably bundled with other major infrastructure improvements), probably initially as an early version of a P3P when passenger rail was still primarily owned by private interests (save for a few rapid transit...
  5. AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

Japan is also basically a giant city. It has half the population of the US crammed into the living space of NJ as almost everyone there lives along the coast.
  6. 1066: Year of the Conquest, and Beyond - Scandinavian England

So the question now would have to be do you develop a new duel Kingdoms with England, Norway and Denmark with England becomeing the senior partner in time. Or does the Kingdoms divide like what happened after the death of King canute the Great. Also would the Viking age continue or be renewed...
  7. AHC: The US with a high speed rail system as prolific as in East Asia or western Europe

Agreed, it was a huge change in perspective. I used to think of rail travel the same way I thought of airlines: you have to get to a special place, you're uncomfortable and wait around for ages, there are unforeseen delays, and then there's all the hassle of getting around at your destination...
  8. Grains of Sand and Salt

Yeah, a big part of this series is going to be the effect of these crops on the Old World. Eelgrass will probably be more common in temperate areas, while nipa will be more common on coastal deserts near the equator (since it can tolerate higher temperatures). I think I mentioned it in the story...
  9. Photos from Kentucky Fried Politics

Kate Mulgrew as President Jolene Davenport in The West Wing season 1 finale. Modeled after former president Carol Bellamy, Kate Mulgrew would portray Davenport for seven of the shows eight seasons from 1999 to 2006.

So for 1976 possible running mates for George McGovern, we have: Brendan Byrne, Henry M. Jackson, Jimmy Carter, and Jerry Brown.
  11. Pop-culture of the Kaiserreich

Just out of curiosity, has it been confirmed that the 1933 version of King Kong was created in the KR universe?

Pride Goes Before a Fall: A Revolutionary Greece Timeline

Honestly, given several other things that have happened in this timeline so far, I have to wonder how different the world would be at present.
  13. No G harder then Kenny G

Kenny G signing to Death Row Records? That is so weird, and then the fact that Kenny seems to know people. All I can think of is Lawrence Welk, German/Ukrainian North Dakota Mob boss.

Foreign policy changes after a Bush win in ‘92

Bush Sr. then Quayle/Dole/Kemp going through a couple interventions that fail/end up acting as vote losers could mean hawks shift democrat in the 2000s and not late 2010s like OTL. This would be in a different context than OTL's shift and something that's more grassroots and not as sped up by...
  15. AHC: is it feasible if the world started diversfying away from fossil fuels much earlier

Here's a left field possibility: OTL, in the early 1900s, auto manufacturers had a problem. Gasoline available at the time didn't have a very high octane rating, so their attempts to build higher-compression engines for more power resulted in knocking. (Knocking is caused by the fuel in a...

    Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

Saw a fair number of people complaining on that post that Long’s treatment in KR is reasonable or in one case (somehow) too sympathetic. The main thing seemed to be his lack of directly challenging things like black disenfranchisement and segregation, but I’d say what he did do (fund...
  17. Romanov Ascendant: What if the Soviet Union survived?

Nice to see a somewhat ''reasonable'' but still refusing Saddam, the guy was a warlord who crawled his way to the top and it reflects his new money attitude but he could learn somewhat from his mistakes when his Ego did not in the way and pride (reputation is after all needed to be a dictator...
  18. What if during the 1980's troubles Ireland was united but "committed" a terrifying bombing and Britain declared war on Ireland

Pretty much this, or the attempted assassination of the Queen, or the assassination of the British Ambassador and Lord Mountbatten, hell even the burning of the Embassy...
