  1. Impact on Japan if the Emperor and Imperial monarchy was dismantled following WW2

Bring back the Shogunate somehow and sideline the emperor again! https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/what-if-victorious-allies-restore-the-tokugawa-shogunate-after-wwii.496077/ My last post about making it so that the shogun is actually American would be funny. Basically Japan's...

I knew Hef had a private plane. I didn't realize... :openedeyewink: BTW, I find the FAA color too dark, unless you only have somebody looking down at you. (Does FAA really have that big an inferiority complex?:openedeyewink: ) Give me Air Superiority Blue any day.
  3. God Owes Phillip II Twenty Bucks

I didn't want to imply that all Protestants wanted strong royal power, I just said that viewing French politics like Catholics=strong royal power and Protestants=weak king (and that is common cliche) is simply incorrect. Well, I assumed that Henri IV was already an head of French Huguenots and...

Impact on Japan if the Emperor and Imperial monarchy was dismantled following WW2

According to Gallup polls a sizable amount of Americans wanted to get rid of the emperor. If the US got rid of him, I suppose Japan might look more like South Korea, having a republican government. Could this have prevented parties like the LDP from forming?

    Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Well that seems more of a tipping point than most were expecting/describing. A larger initial landing could have ensured the follow-up troops reached port successfully. Recce flights from Crete and Alex could have ensured more warning of Italian reinforcements. Have events so far increased...
  9. WI: Nazi Germany's Synthetic Oil Replaced With Biofuel?

So Nazi Germany heavily utilized synthetic oil in WW2. Making it was a slow and expensive process. Would it make a difference if Germany had a similarly sized biofuel industry at the start of the war? What biofuel do you think would be best? I'm aware that there are many different biofuels...
  10. Why are the western allies bombing civilians?

Well, it was entirely legal. The Geneva Convention was signed in 1949 because of WWII, so plenty of these crimes were perfectly legal anyway. But the main point is that the Allies committed these crimes, they were (in their terms) morally justified. The Soviets lost tens of millions in the...

I mean Plato did frequently transmit his ideas through the mouth of Socrates.
  12. Socialist/communist USA, is it possible, and likeliest time period to arise?

I think most American socialism’s would resemble somewhat of their contemporary US capitalism. And I’m happy to agree impossibilist democracy would only be inside the institutions of the “industrial” proletariat, probably only the urban and that “Scandic” north west thing. And given Big Bill’s...

A New World Wreathed in Freedom - An Argentine Revolution TL

I have been giving some thoughts to the possibility that TTL the UP would remain more closer culturally to Spain and to other Latin American neighbours… Cause, I think that TTL, would be good chances that the Bullfighting wouldn't be outlawed/banned as OTL, at all. I suppose that given that in...

No, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the information.
  17. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

I suspect that goes just as bad ITTL. With the fight for Greece cooking off that will prevent any reprise until after Crete at the earliest. Hopefully with lessons learned this time, but realistically its gonna need landing craft to outflank a port and that likely puts it after Pearl Harbor and...
  18. Why are the western allies bombing civilians?

They were muzzled for criticism. This is, at least phrased, to show it as a positive (if the captioning is correct), although how the average readers would take it is open to question.

Why are the western allies bombing civilians?

From what I read, the rapes weren't publicized by the Japanese press -- the beheadings and other aspects of "honoraburu bushido code" that the government jerked off to were reported. After all, rapes don't make fun headlines; stuff that makes your soldiers look like the epitomy of your ideology...
