I think it's more plausible for this to happen with the War of 1812 going better for the British. It's hard to see a situation where the Brits are in a position to hold Michigan and Wisconsin without also having the patriots lose the ARW, but pretty easy to have a War of 1812 where the Brits...
By that time, it's very difficult to do without the British Empire becoming a very unpleasant place (as in, vastly more unpleasant than it already was). Politically, India and other colonies would be demanding more and more rights while the core territories (Britain+white dominions basically)...
Except they weren't there to fight the British, their prime role was to fight the Americans.
